Now that everyones seeing execptional weapons with extreme stats, and the EXTREMELY rare legendary weapons that have...well...lengendary stats...

Why not make a small % chance that the final combine for the weapon has a chance to become exceptional or legendary.

After all every weapon is made by someone, it does not just fall out of the sky.

For intance when combineing all the compoents for a laser carbine, you have a 3% chance for it to be a "Laser Carbine (Exceptional)" - Just like the loot

or

a .5% (Notice the point) for it to be a "Laser Carbine (Legendary"

Sorry if i was a little vague here its late.

And as soon as that happens, the crafter turns it into a schematic, and makes 1000 of them.

Even 0.05% chance would be way too high with the number of times you get every weaponsmith making builds on every server every day.

In other words, I vote "no".

Either dumb down the phat loot so it isn't so riduculously betterthan what's craftable, or just confine the loot to various components and whatnot, to keep the crafters in the loop.

I agree that something should be done to make weaponsmiths, at least Master Weaponsmiths, more competitive with legendary weapons. Something like this might be a good idea, but it should apply to Masters only. The only problem is that we shouldn't be able to make schematics of these exceptional or legendary crafted items; that would be just too powerful. You would have to handcraft them to get an exceptional or legendary result (of course, you could still use factory-made sub-components).

Or, they could just un-gate the resources that suck (like polonium or plumbum iron) that would improve the quality of weapons that use them by a HUGE amount...

Something like that would work only if the exceptional / legendary aspect was applied when you selected craft prototype to avoid as the earlier poster suggested smiths making a schematic out of it to run in a factory. I think to a certain extent we already can make weapons above the norm if we sit around long enough to get theback to backamazing successes. The real issue is that they're creating a new tier of power in the game that everything will eventually have to adjust to. If they're too rare as a drop to use in PvE then people will just save them for PvP and then PvP will become unbalanced. Combat classes have nothing else much to do other than kill mobs right? Getting theese wepons will alow them to rule PvP so of course they'll putt in lots of time camping the mobs to get them, who wouldn't?

I like the idea after getting rid of the NPCloot or making ours better! As long as it only works with create prototype and is only available to masters, and very rare.

I don't think should have to compete with NPC drop exceptional and NPC items. These should be struck from the record like the horrible idea they are.

Additionally, if these became commonplace from the schematic - the devs then look and say oh heck, things are too easy to kill now, let's up them some more. They've done that a couple times already - I know this, as I have limited weapon skills that have been static for moons now, and the same thing has gone from light blue, to blue, to white.

Soon kreetles will have 5k HAM, outrun burst run, DB every timeand always operate in packs of 12. All because of the idiots topside deciding how cool it would be to make stupidly powerful guns drop making NPCs all trash easy to clear out and hence must up the difficulty. Wheeee.
