Iv only been playing for 4 weeks and one of the problems im having is getting my weapons repaired.Nobody seems to want to try not even the weapons builders iv asked for fear of blowing the weapon up.I was told by many not to try it my self and to get a weapons builder to do it.But iv had others tell me i cauld do it just to use a 98% reapir tool to better my chances. My question iswhat is weapons repairing based on ?And do weapons builders have a better chance at repairing than a nonbuilder?

You pretty much need to be able to make that item to repair that item. I did repair a pair of my Vibroknucklers when I was only a box away from being able to make them though, and only had slight blemishes. But you may want to seek out Master Weaponsmiths to repair your stuff... that and a good tool should about guarentee a fairly decent repair. Also, ifyou use weapon powerups... a few of us noted that we get better repair successes if you remove the powerup before the attempted repair.

Suposedly a master weaponsmith has a better chance of repairing a weapon than your average joe.

However the thing can still blow up in your face even if you are a master.

Send me a tell in game and I will be happy to repair/screw-up your weapon for you.

I'm a master WS, and I generally don't mind doing the occasional weapon repair, if I'm not too busy with anything else. It's not like it takes a ton of time... just gotta have a repair tool on you. Always state up front that there is a chance of failure... nothing is ever guaranteed. I charge 2K per repair, regardless of weapon or condition, and I tell them that if the weapon itself isn't worth significantly more than 2K, they're probably better off just buying a new one. I also don't charge if it fails.

All that being said, and keeping in mind that I haven't extensively read these forums, I can now confirm that on three occasions, my repairs have actually *increased* the damage on the weapon. Last night I made absolutely sure to note the starting values on a set of vibroknucklers. The damage was 38 - 188. I stood near my crafting station (as I've heard rumors that being near one may help), crossed my fingers, and clicked. It was repaired with only minor blemishes. And when I looked at the numbers, sure enough, the damage had increased to 39-192. I was ecstatic, especially considering the weapon was down to around 150/950 condition. My customer was quite pleased too and tipped me an extra 3K. It was a nice experience all the way around, and it helped me earn a loyal customer in the process.

There is no to-repair bonus for WS on weapons, so if you want someone to repair your weapon, ask around and see who has weapon repair bonus skilltapes.

Well after failing to find a ws who was willing to tryi desided to try it my self with 98% repair tools.First i tested my repairing on some looted guns iv found.4 out of 5 i repaired with minor blemishes the 5th one fell apart. So after thati went looking for the weapons dealer to replace the guns i was going to repair just in case i screwed it up lol. Both my T21 and spraystick were down 30%.So i said what the hell and tryed it.I repaired both with minor blemishes pretty much the quality went down but my stats stayed the same on the T21.The spraystick im not sure about.Either way i was happy with the results.Id still like to find me a ws to do it but guys just dont care to.The one i asked last night just walked away even when i told him i knew the risk and had the 98% repair tools with me.I do wish i member of the dev team would clear this up on what repairing is based on.I haven't seen any building skills with a repair mod of any kind so far.

Wow, the guy who just walked away from you was pretty rude!

If you're on Sunrunner, contact Alochae. I carry repair tools on me, and I'm always happy to repair. Even if I'm busy, I can do it - you'll just need to come to me, is all.

Cheers,

I try to always carry repair tools on me and if someone asks, I always repair there weapon for them. I just make sure they know up front that there is no guarantee. I don't usually charge anything either, but if they want to tip for a good repair...

I repair any weapons that I am asked to but I make sure they know the risks and know I will not be responsible if the repair fails. I usually charge 3k per successful repairand many people usually tip me extra if the weapon is in bad condition. I use 99.7% repair tools and have a +2 to weapon repair item. Since I reached Master and been using the tape I have had only 1 weapon fall apart and it was like 57/925 and 1 that was a mediocre repair out of the 50 to 60 weapons I have repaired.
