Is the ability to slice what you craft yourselfimportant to your business do you think?

Im sure its nice for some...but I like to outsource my slicing to a master smuggler...saves me a lot of skillpoints...he gives me a bulk rate and discount (since he gets a steady business) and Im able to mark the weapons up in price in accordance with how good they are... You can usually find a master smuggler who's willing to do this kind of thing because it means a steady income for them...

I'm a master weaponsmith/master smuggler. To me it's important to slice my own weapons. In fact, most of my sales are sliced; I barely sell any unsliced weapons. However, being a master smuggler ties up a lot of skill points (63 for smuggler, plus 29 for the pistol line in marksman and 29 for the unarmed line in brawler). If you don't want to tie up the skill points, you should be able to find a master smuggler to work with fairly easy.

i am master Ws and have slice 3. I am thinking if droppingit though. There is a master smuggler close to my shop and you can ruin your own weapon with a bad slice. I mean if you make a really good weapon and slice pre sale thenand get a bad slice you have just cost yourself top dollar. it is now worth less because it is sliced and badly sliced. But if it is a bad slice from a smuggker not affilated with the WS then i still get the sale. i havent sliced anythingfor a while and the jedi thing is starting to look kinda cool. will have to see if the dirty fighting line is any good before it is gont though

I am a Master Weaponsmith, Master Merchant and Master Artisan - and I see the need for slicing! In fact, I have an alternate toon that is already slicer 4 and working diligently on making Master Smuggler. This toon allows me to utilze slicing and play a more non-crafter side instead of looking at a crafting station, factory or vendor all the time. I sell most of my weapons unsliced, but my many failed experiments, or ones that just were not quite worthy of a schematic run, end up on my slicing pile. These weapons then become sellable - some actually turn out quite nice - due to slicing. I had a master smuggler work with me for a while and I would always allot some of my top weapons for slicing in an effort to get a 30+% slice on some to place for sale. I will be doing more of that once I get Master Smuggler.

I'm climbing both the smuggler tree and the weaponsmith tree and I think it'll be worth it. Being a smuggler, you learn that no slice is any better than another, assuming that both players are equal in skill level. You've got just as good a chance of botching a job yourself than the guy down the road does. I will definitely say that the smuggler line ties up ALOT of points, and combined with weaponsmith, this basically means that you can't afford to have a vendor (assuming you also took the marksman skills that scare off creatures -- which, if you're only going smuggler as your combat abilities are good to have, I might add). That's not a big deal to me, since I fully intend on selling items face to face, but for some it may make you pause a minute. Honestly, just consider the tradeoffs. Yes, people will buy your unsliced weapons and then resell them for profit. But so what? You got your money.

Smuggler isn't an easy profession to master, either. It's straightforward for three of the lines, but the slicing line is a pain. Finding containers will be your major problem while climbing the trees, but once you make it to Slicer, you're in good shape. After that, the pistol XP is the killer (especially if all you have are marksman/smuggler skills).

But, since my toon intends to become a gun runner for the rebellion, it makes sense to slice my own weapons.

Unexpectadly, I have found slicing to be completely irrelevant to my sales to this point. My sliced weapons sell no faster than my unsliced ones. At least, if there is a difference, it's not enough for me to notice, so it is literally insignificant.

I haven't had the materials for advanced components, until recently, though. I'm expecting that as I start making the higher-end weapons, with higher ranges to modify with a slice-%, I will start to see a difference in the speeds at which my sliced and unsliced weapons sell.

I am a master artisan and master weaponsmith, and have considered working up the slicing tree. However, I would have to give up master artisan to get master smuggler, and I decided that I've benefitted far too much from master artisan to willingly give it up. When I want something sliced, I want the highest possible chance of success, so I wouldn'tbe satisfied stoppingat slicing-4. So instead, I grab a pal who is a master smuggler.

I sell both, and I mainly sell sliced stuff. Takes the guess work and luck out of someone buying one and hoping for a good slice.

It does take up a lot of skill points however...I wouldnt go back.

Weaponsmith/Smuggler was my template before taking up the hologrind and it was great! My sliced weapons sold very quickly. I also found that I could pay the maintenace on my guilds faction base by selling faction points from the base's recruiter. Nice Perk. I wouldn't bother with it unless you go master though.

Howdy'

Have a SON - SLice Of Nyte' vendor in my shoppe and the sales are about even. No idea why since I figured him to be doing the major sales once up to speed. Go figure. Still working out good for both of us tho and his spice sales are pacing my weapon sales.
