Thread: Quick question on stocks

Last night I picked up some generic wood and some corellian deciduous wood to try making a stocked weapon for a friend (HAM costs are irrelevant being a self-buffing doctor). On the very first pass I popped a stock starting at 14%dmg, 28% other stats, I then experimented HAM down to 0 (1 in reality I know) and discarded the test item. On the 2nd one I intended to check out my max damage experimentation, this though surprised me when it popped at 7%/14%. Not sure what was happening I tried 10 more attempts, all started at the lower value.

The question is, do I have any chance of repeating the 1st stock or was it likely just a bug. I can try creating in a manufacturing centre but I assumed that just affected my experiment points and not the initial creation.

Any ideas anyone?

One thing I've learned about experimenting. If it looks even halfway decent make a schematic. I do have problems with room for all the schematics at times but I just make a schematic and replace it when I make a better one. That way if by some fluke something that didn't seem that great was the best of the night, I can always make more.

Don't you hate when the first time you craft something it turns out stellar - but you don't know because you don't have something to compare it to???

I did Advanced Vibro Motors and on my first time, I got this KILLER item. Me not having made these before didn't realize this at the time. It wasn't until I made my 2nd one that I noticed the initial combine was only about 1/2 as good as the first one

The final VK from that one vibro motor came out to 47-160, a considerable increase over any subsequent attempts.

If we could get a clarification - I mean I assume you tried getting the same stock back (i.e. either regular or advanced) with the same materials .... I don't meant to imply you overlooked that, but in your post start up you mentioned getting generic wood and corellian deciduous, so I was just wondering if that was important to your situation or you just threw in the generic + corellian deciduous for completeness.

And what is with the half percentile on the damage range anyway? I hate that.

Yup, my first stock was the best I ever made, and I threw it away. I must've made 100 stocks after that trying to reproduce it.

Yep I used exactly the same items in subsequent attempts, and as has been said if you dont know it's stellar you dont know to keep it

Last night I took the same tool and materials toa research centre to get the 15% bonus and ended up with the worst run of failures, crits and general crap builds I have ever had. I am totally confused.....

On an item I'm not familier with I now ALWAYS make the 1st one a schematic. I've had the same thing many times. The 1st attempt is significantly better. Not sure why but I'm going to take advantage of it.
