Yesterday I got an email that looked a lot like someone just transferred 800k to my account ('So and so has just transferred 800000 credits to your account from escrow', or such). I thought it was odd and was about to ask the guy what's up, then I get another email from this person asking how many grenades he can get for that. I reply that I don't do munitions, and refer him to someone who does, and just to be polite Ido a little calculation and tell him how many crates of grenades he can get at the Munition vendor's prices. Then I get the next email thanking me for my time and asking me to please xfer his money back to him...

Ok... I guess if I was a wealthy, long-time WS I might have millions in my account and might not notice that I'm going to be 800K short... but a) I'm a new WS and tend to make weapons for my guild and my Primary chars, so I don't have a huge profit margine, b) I had just rebuilt my harvester fleet and resource stockpile, so c) I don't even HAVE 800K in this char's account... Either SOE has a slight bug in their money xfer process or this guy decided to email me a letter mimicing a money xfer in an attempt to scam me out of 800k creds.

So either way I replied that there might be a problem because I did not get the cash, but that I would be happy to submit a CSR ticket to see if they can help him. He replies w/ 'Oh, wow... Bummer.' and asks me toplease submit a ticket and he would do the same... I don't know about you, but that's pretty casual for someone who lost nearly a million creds...

Either way, it's all in the CSR's handsbecauaseI documented it all, kept the emailsand submitted the ticket. I just wanted to know if anyone has seem something similar and wether it was a confirmed bug or just another loser trying to scam players out of credits.

Dont know, thats why bank tip emails should come from "Imperial Bank of Doom" or whatever instead of coming from the player.

On a side note I had a bank transfer take 2 days to go through last week. Never had that happen before, and not since, anyone have this before?

I've noticed the larger the amount the longer it takes.

I would also see this as a scam, just by the fact, who in their right mind would xfer someone 800k and ask what they can get for it, and 2 not go ballistic when you said you didn't have it.

I have a policy that if you tip me before any agreement has been reached, that payment isn't part to that deal, and is considered an accual TIP.

this is a scam from what i know and the only way to see if it is a real xfer or fack is by the name. in the email his name should be in all caps if it is a real xfer and if he wrote it to try and scam you his name will be all lowercase

A real tip comes using the full name. A fake tip uses only the first name. Unfortunately, this is only noticable for those people that have first and last names. (At least this is what I understand.)

Saw this on Bria also, I knew how much money I had. When I confronted him he did not respond. Can someone let me know how to report this to a CSR. I tried to figure it out and couldn't. Thanks

the escrow thing was all about credit dupage and loss.

Now you only get the credits when you log on your character. Sadly I have seen a character named escrow that may be an attempt to exploit a bug in the game. As for reporting it hit ctrl h hit the customer service tab and report player abuse with all details. Second try the command /report then players first name. You can further add a short description afterwards. The csrs get a pile of these and they get resolved faster then csr tickets. Usually because the player abuse may be happening at that time, and thus a greater chance of catching a culprit.

I think the csrs prefer the /report because they are quicker to follow up and resolve. Many times chronic cheaters are on a list so if you report a name up to know good. It often gets immediate attention. The csr can not ban a person on another players say so but if they catch them in the act they can bust them then and there. Thankfully greed is on the side of law and order, because once someone starts tricks like this. They usually do not stop. Like gamblers they keep pushing their luck.
