Thread: Question about Weapon repairs

Hello.


I'm curious if anyone has any insight as to the "best practice" for weapon repair. I seem to go through decay quickly, even without dying or using specials and I always seem to break or get poor results on my weapon repairs. I'm not the richest player so dropping 2-3 mil every other week to keep a good firearm is hurting my ability to solo hunt big game.

Well there is the overly obvious ADK... but if that's beyond your price reach....


Have a Weaponsmith repair it for you. We get a little bit beter chance on the repair roll (and that can be further enhanced with tapes... yes they do work... TH confirmed this).


Asa General rule, I either get "You have repaired the weapon" or "You have repired the weapon with only minor blemishes", mostly minor blemishes though.

TH commented on it in a Tuesday Tip. Basically stated thata weaponsmith has a very small advantage over non weaponsmiths. I have tested weapon repair a few times. My weaponsmith did no better then my Jedi or BH/Rifleman. Basically it is a dice roll and even the best roll craps. Personally I avoid repairing other people's weapons, not worth it to hear the crap /tells for a failure on something you cant control. For the record, I dont bother handing my own rifles to my weaponsmith to repair either, my alt does just as well.

i did a test once and didn't see any difference at all. And i don't think many weaponsmiths even carry repair tools around.

My very first repair after getting the FS repair line complete, +29 in CA's and 100% repair tools was...you know it, a complete failure...weapon destroyed.


I have yet to see any difference between my WS toon with all the bells and whistles and my combat toon...if there is a difference, it must be tiny.

My weaponsmith suit has +18 or 19 in weaponsmith repair.. I have it just to have it though. I have a crate of weapons repair tools at my workshop but dont carry any around with me.. also I have only had about 3 or so differnt people ask me about repairing their weapon in the past year.

2 years as a Weaponsmith and Ive seen this tested many many times with different results each time, my thought has always been that it cant hurt to take it a WS if they get a bonus or not. I used to get requests for repairs several times each day but it eventually stopped for some unknown reason.

Unknown Reason translates into ADK IMO


I still get a few requests now and then, but I usually tell them I have as much a chance of rining the weapon as they have. That is what I have experiencedhavent tested it a lot, but it seems to me my Combat alt does as bad a job as my WS main
