They're used in different weapons. Power Cells are for energy damage type ranged weapons. Reinforced casings are used for kinetic damage type ranged weapons. The only excpetion is the High Cap Scatter, which is kinetic damage, but uses the power cells.

only things worth using casings in are, baserker and tusken rifles (damage caps low but you can use the extra points to put in speed etc) the FGW5 pistol and featherweight varienat (use of eneergy resist armour makes these pistols very formidable when capped) likewise the intimidator if you are master SL

and the czerka carbine in BH tree 0400 but it needs 6 identical casings where all forementioned weapons need 1 casing each

wow nice, so if i have 6 of these together right now in stack, i could ask a weaps to cratf me one pistol in exchange of the 5 remaining....

Bet you could even get 5 pistols leaving the last one for the weaponsmith and the weaponsmith would be happy.
