Thread: Scoping custom pistols

As I contemplate the various weapons I need to replace with fully customized and krayted versions, and begin to set aside the funds and materials needed for these endeavors, one optional component intrigues me: Scopes.

I rarely see pistols with them, and often wonder why they arent more commonly used. Of the weapons I am currently looking into, Mod Republic, DX2, Sonic, DE-10, I haveneverseen an example of one built with a scope attached, and only very rarely seen any pistols with them. There are likely some in my selection that cannot be scoped, I admit I havent researched each option fully yet.

Why this lack of interest in scoping? Is it a general lack of good scopes? Or perhaps the HAM costs of loot scopes are too high for use in fast weapons?

Just curious to know the opinions and observations of the crafters.

I scope anything that can be scoped.

I use regular scopes with 1/1/1 HAM.

Every weapon you've ever owned likely had a scope in it, you just didn't know it

The scope will not be visible on the weapon unless crafted in a very specific manner, which is not condusive to mass-production. Even then, not all weapons even have the potential art to show the scope, so it will never be visible, no matter how it is made (DX2 and Scout blaster, for example).

The standard scope added gives about +13, +14 to ideal range, with a 1/1/1 HAM cost, and so will have almost no penalty.

Interesting... Would anyone happen to know the result in scoping a DE-10? Is it possible? Is it visible? Is there a way to keep it from being visible?

Lasty, are the Precision Tuned scopes from the Imperial Theme Park a viable option?

And thanks again for the info!

The following pistols will show a scope only if hand-crafted properly:

  • DX2

  • DL-44

  • DL-44 Metal (why you'd want one I've no idea, but there it is)

  • D-18

  • FWG5

The following pistols will never show a scope, no matter how they are crafted (by hand or in a factory):

  • Scout

  • Launcher

  • Scatter

  • Republic (and Modified Republic)

I don't know about the following pistols:

  • DE-10

  • SR Combat

  • Striker

  • DH-17

  • Tangle

Someone who knows, feel free to confirm on the last 5, but I know the rest are accurate.

A scope used from a crate will _never_ show, and sometimes even when pulled out of the crate if it is the wrong style, it won't show also.

There's an excellent thread listing weapons and visible components here.

Thank you all again for the continued data.

What about the Imperial Theme Park reward "Precision Tuned Scope"? Does it generally show?

Yes, it will. But mind the HAM costs of that scope. They are insane!

I just made a DX2 with a scope without using crates and the scope did not show up.

What can I say? I've made them with visible scopes before. The system is so random... sometimes pulling a scope out of a crate will get it to show on the final weapon model. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes you have to craft the scope by hand to get it to show. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Thats odd. That would be cool if they would fix the visual effects, but i guess it isnt too important

Youll be surprised at what the devs find important to fix or make.
