Where have you peeps who are complaining about our correspondant been? Did you just discover this board today?

Over the last week he solicited issues from users of this board, made up a big list of everything that was presented to him and asked peeps to vote on the top 5. I didn't see any of you listing your issues or voting on the top 5. So if you want to find someone to blame about why your favorite issue isn't on the list then go look in a mirror and you will see the person at fault.

The job of the weaponsmith correspondant isn't to list his or her top problems, it is to solict problems from all weaponsmiths and then to present them to the devs. If you can't be bothered to post things of concern to you then don't complain when they aren't included because if no one lists them when the WS correspondant asks for input then they shouldn't be on the list.

Actually the issues suggested bore little relationship to the 5 sent in, and most of the issues listed in this thread (the exceptions being those that have come up in the last 2 weeks) *were* suggested back then.

This is espeicially true of the issues affecting non-masters.

Well, it seems the last patch fixed the problem with factories only wanting to do one run per day, but I still have some strange problems with the input hopper:

- The factory doesn't seem to properly find items in crates. The serial # is correct, but it stops after 0 items and says it can't find the item.

- The factory also seems to stop sometimes even when the items are not in crates, stating that it can't find the item.

- When the factory does stop, it still consumes the resources that it *could* find. So, you lose one item's worth of resources.

One other thing- when you create weapon components, you get 50 or so 'use' XP when you use them to make a weapon. Components produced by a factory don't seem to convey this 'use' XP. In fact, I don't seem to get ANY 'use' XP for anything I make in a factory. Is this correct? It would be nice to get a little more factory XP because if I have to grind by hand to get master weaponsmith I'm going to get carpal tunnel

Please don't take focus off the main profession issues because of a peronal problem with dealing with the economy

That is complete and utter elitist garbage. So what your saying is that a weaponsmith should not be able to participate in the game until they have attained master level.

Actually, if they just fixed it so that the materials required for a weapon actually matched the traits of that material, then maybe there'd be more than 3 decent guns in the whole game, and younger wepsmiths could sell scout pistols, because the master weaponsmiths would be building better weapons.

Devs, we'd all love a response about what you're at least *intending* or even *hoping* to do with the resource requirements. Why must we build weapons that rely on conductivity out of iron and steel? Any information would be appreciated by all of us.

"You can't EXPECT to compete with higher smiths"

Going to have to agree that this is a crap response. Lots of professions have master as meaningless, in the case of weaponsmith I think master smith means far to much.

Personally as a start to fixing this problem I suggesttaking away 10-15 points of experimentation/assembly bonus from master, assign to novice weaponsmith. This would let us get closer to masters with our weapons, instead of being a huge difference, further it would allow the novice make d18's that are noticeably better then a cdef, and lastely it would take some of the huge aggrivation that is low level experimentation/assembly.

Masters keep a huge selection of schematics that a simply gunsmith cant make, and can still experiment better. I would personally like to see a couple of the schematics such as dx2 dropped down, but if just the exp/assemply bonuses were adjusted I would be happy. I agree with someone elses comment that changing resources so it wasnt a 3 gun universe would also be a help.

I must say I am somewhat in agreement with other folks. Of the 6 issues listed, I really think only 3 were relevant to smiths, the other three are more of a crafting/factory bug list. I do however disagree with some in saying that 'resources' are fine. I can only assume you play on a server where resource shifts are actually working.

I have to agree that parts of a weapons should not ALL have the same requirements for stats. It just seems that the devs simply gimped the crafting system out. Maybe it was just to much work to make each specific part (in the final build) actualy reflect some sort of logic. When you looks down a list of 3 - 10 areas and they ALL list the exact same stat requirements while using totaly different resources (some of which dont even have that stat) somethings wrong thats for sure. Did they just get lazy? Or run out of time?

Will we ever see this fixed? *shrug*

This is more of a suggestion, but something needs to be done when re-deeding factories, as far as a message telling you that you have a schematic inside and/or ingredients in the hopper. This will cut down on a lot of lost things. There should also bea way to remove a schematic from your factory WITHOUT having to replace it with another one for re-deeding. I find myself constantly having to make crap schematics just so I have something to replace after my 100 items are done. FIX THIS ALREADY. And has anyone noticed SOE took out the "Temporarily removed re-deeding costs" from the patch notes? Classic.

I noticed that last night, but haven't had a chance to test to see if they were removed or just the note was removed...

6) Factory Speed – Factories for Master Weaponsmiths should be faster. Once you reach Master level, experience is no longer a factor.

Well, we realize that the novice weaponsmiths still need a market, so we wanted to leave the higher weapons to the Master Weaponsmith and keep production speed the same. We’re going to keep an eye on the this for the future.

Why should that be determined by the level of the guy making the weapons? If anything, that should be determined by the architect who crafted the factory and if he was able to experiment it to be more efficient.

One thing I'd like is the ability to know approximately how many more units need to be made in a factory run. That would help a little bit. Either that, or an estimated time of running...

Also, is the reason why factories stop at 100 meant to be in place as a gate for people who put 1000 on a schematic? It seems like you could remove that restriction if you just stopped allowing people to enter 1000 for a schematic. If you try to put 200 or 300, it will revert to 100 on the schematic. Why doesn't it do it when you enter 1000?

Do any weapon components actually stack bonuses? I've noticed that long vibro axes (3 vibro units) only get the bonus from one of the units. So the issue isn't with power handlers alone. All stacked components need to be checked by the devs.

I think the coraspondant has completely missed key issues for WS in general. The biggest issue is proper experimentation of projectile and chemical sub components which effect all levels of WS.

Would also like to see some minor changes in resources drops. But it not at all a big deal.

Other then weapons not working as they should i think the WS class is pretty good.

To address issues with novice WS's plight. I'm not exactly sure giving away the cherry of experimentation to novtice is a good thing. It will saturate the market with WS dabblers and, again, kill any chance of novice WS's squeeking out a living. I recommend getting to the point where you can practice proj rifle barrels and do the following.

To make money and xp, hand build weapon upgrade kits. I know sooooo many smugglers that are always looking for them and pay really good creds for them. Then when you're done making your money, grind out 20 or 30 proj barrel.

I feel for the novices, I'm a new WSM and had to hand grind barrels to get there. But i didn't get poor doing it. Just do the odd delivery job, make some kits and grind a bit.

I am putting this here to maybe get some attention to it. I never see it listed anywhere but in a couple posts of mine, so Ill copy and paste my last post on it in here.

You cannot experiment for damage on the chemical dispersion mech. It gives you the option, you can fill up the line with experimentation points, and hit experiment, it says amazing success, and stays at 0%. It is also this way on the advanced version. Beyond that, both the advanced, and normal, give 5 to max damage, and 5 to min damage to start. Shouldnt the advanced version have a little bit more to start with? Please can someone tell me if this is even know.I did a quick search for anything about this but didn't see anything. Perhaps I just didn't look good enough. But this seems like it would make a great little fix for one of the hotpatches.

How often are we aupposed to be iterating the "Correspondent submits to Devs, Devs respond"?

Once? Once a month? Once a year?

Man rough list.

Bottom line been checking out the posts on this forum for some time now the correspondents way off base. Dtox and Darkcypher ive seen many well thought out posts from both throughout the forum. Dtox more than Dark Cypher either would be great correspondents.

Shut up about resource shifts 900+ materials should allow 100% on weapons. 500 qlty should not period. ya good resources are rare accept it and stockpile for it. If you want to make good stuff realize it doesnt happen over night it's going to take a month or 3 of playing to accumulate the highest quality of all materials. AS IT SHOULD. What do you think the second you're a master weaponsmith everything you make should be perfect dont be an idiot. It takes time and Foresight (getting rid of the bugs would also help).

As to the novice weaponsmith who keeps complaining about not being able to compete with a master weaponsmith. how stupid are you, shut up. When i was a novice, i spent my time giving things away and making friends and looking through the bazaar for a gap in the market. Think about the wordNOVICE it means you dont know what you're doing.

I only picked up the weaponsmith skill set so i cld make better bowcasters but after breaking down and buying a T21, a laser rifle, and a spraystick from probably the best weaponsmith in my galaxy at this time (total cost was 115k) , I am forced to accept the fact that the highest quality bowcaster wont compare to the highest quality of any of the 3 weapons i just bought. I am saddened by this fact. Because it means Chewbacca uses a crap second rate weapon. I beg someone to tell me the advantage of using a bowcaster instead of a spraystick which has dps of over 40 unsliced and unmodded.I like to be practical about things i charge 20k for a bowcaster rght now and i can get a spraystick for15k the spraystick doesnt take any more materials than a bowcaster in fact the spraystickuses materials that are way easier to find than the bowcaster's materials. i had to wait 2 weeks before the materials i needed showed up on any of the planets in my galaxy. I like that, it means that the next person looking for them has to wait just as long (unless morons keep asking for the best materials to always be present so that when they play once every week or 2 they can make just as good a weapon as someone who plays everyday for extended periods of time).

Final point the factory issue affects the medic and armor and clothing and droid professions every bit as much as it affects the weaponsmiths. My main profession is Armorsmith i cant make any of my things without identicall factory made items. I wont buy Stim b's from a medic unless its a crate of them because i dont like loose items and i like high quality goods. No profession but the architects (even this is optional) should bring up the fact that factories are all screwed up in their list of things that need to be corrected. Why because everyone with a factory reports the fact that they are all screwed up every time they go to use them. If the devs dont have 500,000 /bug reports and some silly number of tickets out on factories now i'll stop playing the game. I report a factory bug every day sometimes twice (i have 2 factories item and wearables) depending on how pissed off i am. I know that everyone else who bought a factory for 20 to 45k is doing the same. THE DEVS KNOW THAT THE FACTORIES ARE BUGGED. how could they not. im certain they are trying to fix them. Also stop asking to speed them up if you can make 500 of the highest quality weapons in an hour then will only end up being one or two weaponsmiths in any of the galaxies which isnt the way its supposed to be. Remember supply and demand. Low supply means high demand = high profit for the weaponsmith.

what the heck is wrong with the weaponsmith correspondent doesnt he know better than to listen to newbs when making his list!!!!!!!!!!
