Thread: Retirement is where every Master Craftsperson is headed
I too am master weaponsmith , and i also make stoopid amounts of money, i can log in to find 300K over night, most of the money i make i dont class as mine.
The fact that the 10 other people in PA have aided me in supplys and resources, not to mention directing customers to my shop IMO makes the money "the PA's" money. i have never brought and items in game only resources , the pa supplys all the items for free inc compsite, houses, weoapns, food ( BTW FOOD IS ONLY WAY TO BUFF IN GAME SO BUY IT ).
But keeping up with customer depand is to hvy a toll and im thinking of retireing too, well atleast shutting my vendor.
Why ?
Because when i log in ive already got 10 pms waiting for me when i log in game. People think ur not allowed to play the game and expect u to be there 24/7 to make them weopans ,
Its just to much some times, i would like to play the game too sometimes , thats why i pay my subs.
i dont mind the pms , just not instantly the moment u see us logged in , give us some breathing space b4 u pm instantly.
thanks

OK, I'm a novice with firearms crafting 1 and crafting technique 4. Any pointers? I still can't sell my guns 'cause noone wants to buy 50-100 blasters if they can get one thats 50-120. so what it costs 5k more than mine, most people have money to spare.
so please help the brother out and tel me your secrests!!!
I'm planning my retirement, the thing is I have invested so much time and effort into my character and all the hundreds of k of rare resources and all the factories and all the medium harvesters and all the knowledge and stock of weapons seems to all go to waste.
I want to be able to still be a Master Weaponsmith but not be bothered by anyone else than my own PA members, now how can this be accomplished? I don't know, but that is really what I like to do.
I would like to have a name change, even maybe a change of gender (Can I buy that for FP Sony?).
I can still be a Master WS and a Master in any of the three Ranged weapon lines. (I'm going pistoleer myself). I have sometimes got tells from people that when I reply don't seem to be online, how can I accomplish this?
I won't continue to tell you all about the pain it is to be a master WS, no I don't have 10+ millions as many other has stated, but I do have experienced everything that is expressed in this thread, and I'm sick of it. I want to be able to log on and onlyu ahve fund for a couple of hours. I want tobe able to go for a vacation over the weekend with my GF and not worry about a resource switch, or that I'll miss a rare spawn of Duralloy Steel or Platenite Copper. I'm not saying "don't bea WS" I'm just saying it's not fun anymore for me.
It's been a few months since this thread got any love... and I still see a lot of the original posters still around, still making weapons.
Have people's outlooks changed since August?
Thanks for resurecting this old thread. I got a great laugh out of reading it. All the same stuff still happens. I avoid most of the "tell hells" by leaving my title as novice carbineer. It's nice to still see many of the same posters still around. I was a lowly novice when this post was newer so didn't post much..... wait a minute I still don't post much...
customer: U GOT ANY KRAYTE WEAP?
ME:

me: no
customer: U GOT T21S????
me: no

You even noticed that if you have every weapon except 1 on my vendor the next person you talk with anyway wants that 1 weapon...... every annoying.
Having been the first master WS on my server, I can tell you that it had its advantages and its drawbacks.
Of course there was the advantage of having 100% exp from the factories...if you were online and within several hundred meters of them.
Now of course, not only did you have to be near these factories...but anyone who was among the first high level WS on their server can tell you, businesswas out of control. When the first bounty hunters and commandos started popping up for instance, they had a very limited number fo people to turn to for their profession specific weapons (even though they did suck back then). Now you say "Wow that's great! You made a ton of sales!"
Well consider this as well...heavy harvesters were not common at the time, mediums were often the best you could find (even if there were master archs...they'd need heavies to get the ridiculous amount of resources required to make more heavies...or multiple accounts which fewer people had back then since they were all just starting new characters and were not yet bored). Resoruces were hard to come by, and the players that could clear harvest points for rare resources on Endor and such were few and far between.
Oh, and by the way...the wonderful factories you see now weren't quite so wonderful back then. We had to remove every item from a crate by hand and place it into the input hopper. If you consider a 4-5 powerhandler gun, include the barrel, and then look at the number of components, you understand the pitifully small runs of guns we could make at the time. Besides that, the 1000 schematic "bug" wasnt known to everyone in the first couple weeks, many were working with the basic 100 schematics, myself included for sometime. I played in beta, but I was a pistoleer,I didnt have a clue about weaponsmithing or crafting in general. In fact I happily grinded through thousands of units of link-steel aluminum and ditanium steel which then didn't spawn again for months on my server.
From my personal experience, add the insane lag in the Bestine area (you can see very old patch notes to see that this actually needed a fix, because the lag wasn't just "bad" it was unplayabale) to the factory problems, and consider the number of people waiting by your lagged out vendor plus the number of people sending you tells, and you may want to admit...the early masters paid their dues just as much as anybody.
Did I benefit from having factories give 100% exp back then? Sure I did to a degree. But did I also bust my ass just as hard, if not harder, than the current crop of novice WS to achieve master while not just grinding, but actually trying to make guns with every factory run and dealing with 100 customers an hour? Of courseI did, and I'm sure many others did as well.
Yes, the early masters have the benefit of some old resources, and a large customer base to draw upon. However, don't think these things just fell into our laps. I think I speak for many of the early masters when I say we worked very hard and tolerated many bugs that are now fixed, in order to provide the up and coming combat professions of the server with weapons that would allow them to take on the more difficult targets in the game.
