Thread: SAC means NOTHING! Stop BSing us guys!!
How about you stop b'sh.itting us?
I DO use low sac weapons as well as high sac/high damage weapons. Depending on the sitation I'm in I'll use either one of 'em.
But what really doesn't matter is the DPS, if you're looking for damage, you might consider the min/max damage!
Example:
Pistol 1:
Damage: 200 - 600
Speed: 1.5
Base dps: 266
SAC: 100
Pistol 2:
Damage: 300 - 700
Speed: 2.1
Base dps: 238
SAC: 100
Dunno how the base dps is calculated, but I'm sure base dps from pistol 1 is higher then from pistol 2.
I'm pretty sure, I'd use Pistol 2, since it has the highest maxdamage which only, and only counts if you're spamming specials. So you'll have to look for low sac and high min/max damage and not dps..

You sir, have then NEVER played as a post-CU commando. Im constantly battling my action bar with my weapons, and having low SAC makes a world of a difference on my Heavy Weapons.

[(min dmg + max dmg) / 2] / spd = approx base DPS

Crappy guns dont sell?!? That is bull. Any WS worth his salt knows if you build it, there is a niche that will buy it. Now it might sit on the vendor longer. But they all sell. I sell everything, bad slices, bad tests, and all my good stuff. And eventually it all goes. Even tangle pistols...Anyone notice they still suck...
Actually...the Tangle got a nice little bump. It's still a crappy pistol, but before CU, it would be better to use a water gun!
They don't suck if your the right CL for them. There isn't much else that CL and if you opt for a lower CL weapon you might as well just lay down and die.
Just so you know... I have made 2 weapons each for 4 different friends, each was a different profession and all were full template CL 80 characters.
For the purposes of the test I made each person 2 of the same weapon, one experimented for damage and the other for efficiency. I asked them to use them under the same conditions during a hunt. In other words, hunting the same creatures, using the same buffs, and using the same pups. The one thing I also asked them to do was hunt solo.
After a few hours of hunting I asked them which they preferred. All 4 of them said they preferred the lower SAC weapon.
I then took it one step further experimenting equally on damage and SAC and had them test these new weapons again their preferred low SAC weapon. This time they chose the one that was equally experimented because it allowed them to do a little more damage even though they ran out of action in the end.
These may not be hard numbers that some prefer in testing, but I look at it as focus testing that is commonly done to test the viability of a new product.
I am only a 10 point smith, so I know the balanced weapon would be even more popular once I can get an extra point in damage and efficiency experimented.
I was told to take a look at this post by a friend. I finnally finished reading it lol.
Thorn,
From your post I think you were trying to say that while everyone is debating whether SAC cost matter or not. The realunderlying problem with the game right now is more than just SAC. We have tons of broken stuff with CU that need to be discuss instead of dwelling on SAC right? I think most of us are still hoping that things will get fixed eventually. I understand your fustration but there is not much we can do except wait it out like we been doing for the last2 yrs. And there are ways to solo things in this game. Come into Vent one day and we'll discuss it.
Mor-Dan,
I'm glad you didn't take anything Thorn said personally. Most people would have fired up theirflamethrower and have hugeBBQ by now. I'm glad you took the high road. You are a person with great character andI'm glad the WS community havesuch a great person representing them. A correspondant job is a thankless one. so, Thank you!
For those discussing SAC,
From my observations, there is something most of us are forgeting about. Combat macro affects SAC greatly. If you use a combat macro to spam your special you tend to run out of SAC really quick. If you're one of those who does not use a combat macro the delay of a second or two before your next shot gives you a better chance of regenerating your SAC.
