Irespect the fact that you play the game in the fashionthat gives you the most enjoyment. I do the same thing albeit with a different set of priorities. I realize not everyone wants to play the game the way I do and I also realize many players don't have the same passion for roleplay that you do. It seems to me that players that want to immerse themselves in the roleplay experience will seek out players like you for their crafting and slicing needs and other players will procure their weapons in the manner which meets their particular needs/preferences. Trying to force players to buy unsliced weapons so they can take them to a "backalley" slicer is ridiculous. Players already have that option and many exercise it but many do not andI see no reason why the freedom to choose should be taken away from any player.
Some of the players crying for a sliced weapon vendor nerf cite their desire for roleplay and immersion as justification for harming another profession to improve their lot in the game. The irony of that is inescapable. Here you have people playing the role of smugglers, a collectoin of rogues, scalawags, and ne'er do-wells who never met a rule they didnt enjoy breaking, and you are crying to the devs to "please make the weaponsmiths stop selling weapons on their vendors because they are supposed to be illegal and it's not fair". I hate to break the news to you, but smugglers don't have a monopoly on illegal activity in this game. Every time a rebel player attacks a member of the Empire, they are breaking the law.
Like it or not, the weapons business is a dirty one. I've spent my points on Merchant, and I sell weapons to promote havoc and chaos in the galaxy and I don't care whether they are legal or not and that's my immersion, and my immersion is no more or no less valid than yours. I employ NPC vendors in my shop, not some sort of vendomatic machine. Most of them sell legal goods. If you know which ones to talk to, you can find the good, but illegal stuff. I find people talking to my vendors all the time "come on, give it up, I know you got the goods, and I want 'em!" and I know they are immersed in the experience and having a great time. Shame on you for wanting to take that experience away from them.
