The one thing that I absolutely detest above all other things when it comes to slicing is the per-% pricing system.

I don't see why - if you get a bad slice you pay less, if you get a good slice you pay more. Either way you just got what you paid for. 100c per % works perfectly for me.

I've dealt with people like you who hate the pricing system. Keeping in mind that using this plan, my slices cost between 1200 - 3000c, these are how the conversations usually go after I give out the pricing scheme:

% hater: Well I don't know you well enough to trust you about the right percent, so can you just give me a flat rate?

Me: Sure. 3k.

per-percent fees may not be appealing to slicers, but they ARE appealing to customers (or at least me). That way you don't feel "robbed" if you get a bad slice.

That is definately true of Intrepid. I charge a flat rate of 4k per weapon or armor sliced. Unless over 3 items then it becomes 3k for a bulk discount. Slicing is well worth that price or even higher. Yes I am a bit biased but I did get all of my weapons up to master smuggler sliced by someone else until I could it myself. And I paid good money for it too. For awhile the fee was a flat 4k on our server until more smugglers came into being.

i am on tempest and i have never heard off a slicer or master smuggler slicing for free (except for a friend). slicing is a extremely valuable service and so should have a price. if we r willing to pay 4 times for a krayt version of a weapon for a 20 to 30% increase in performance why should we not pay a measly 2 to 3k for a slice that will increase the performance of a weapon by the same amount.

regarding how much to charge for a slice i think the slicer should either charge 100 per % or if he or she wants a more steady income then they should average out the potential slice for their skill level and multply by 100 (eg for a master smuggler the range is 20 to 35% hence average is 27.5 multiplied by 100 is 2750.

a Master Smuggler here, i charge for every slice weather it be weapon or armor. Think about it your providing a service. Your not gaining experince anymore. I harvest all my own supplies and make all my items for slicing in my factoies that i maintain. I buy wuk and auk schematics form weapon/armor smiths. Its expensive to slice. Clamp(90 cooper), +a WUK or AUK ( 20 cooper + 10 chem) + the knife. for 1 slice. Non slicer dont realise this, if some one refuses to pay i tell them to go find a novice and when they get a 10% slice come back to me next time.

Now on the other hand i dont think non Masters ornon slicers should charge. They are still getting experince and the reward when your done w/ slice4 is well worth the time effort and money.

What weapons sell the best on a vendor selling sliced weapons? Also, what kind of slices do people prefer (speed or damage) of these weapons? Any advise is appreciated.
