One question regarding some schematics, are the kashyyyk bladestick and 2h kashyyyk sword going to be made by Wookie WS' only like the bowcaster? Is the Alliance Needler Carbine going to be a faction perk like the new armor and is the Bothan Bola Carbine going to be made by Bothan WS? just wondering if i should get my hopes up or not

I think it would be AWESOME if they did make them like the bowcaster. It would make some weaponsmiths specialize in somethings that another WS might not be able to do. Though I think that they need to have at least 1 per species to make this fair.

I understand your frustration, but that wasn't really meant as an answer. He was just being playful.
The fact is, the weapon stats balance pass is still being worked out, so none of the final information on stats or these aspects of the conversion process are available yet. His more direct answer on this point has been listed at the beginning of this thread.
As soon as some solid information is available, it'll end up here.

i'm not sure that this is the proper place, but..
i have a concern about the bowcaster... right now they are anything but powerful, but they are still handy for your everyday baddies - if you like to RP and carry one, you don't get obliterated for it... on TC though, they seem to have been CDEFerized... considering RotW is coming out at the same time, i'm sure this is just an oversight... but i wouldn't mind knowing a little about the future of these weapons...

Yeah, as of yet, the new bowcaster stats are anything but impressive. I'd wait to see how the final stats shake out, as I think there's still gonna be quite a bit of movement.
If it still stays like this though, there'll be a whole bunch of angry wookiees (among others) getting ready to raise hell.
Your concern is not an uncommon one, but for right now, I think all we can do is wait and see.

I'd like to second the previous comment about Bowcasters. As a Master Riflewookiee and Master Weaponsmith I take great pride in my double enhanced Bowcasters (gorax or spider fangs in the Adv Projectile Feed Mechs and Krayt tissues in the Power Handlers). To hear that they areuber-nerfing this weapon to CDEF status hurts both myself and my customers who have paid substantial credits for these unique weapons. I've made Bowcasters that have over 500+ damage. Am I hearing and reading this correctly when they say the new Bowcasters, which won't even fire our distinctive green bolts anymore, will have a top end damage output of 70?I doubt any other weapon will face such a nuclear nerfdown. It was bad enough we couldn't layer our piddly clothes under our armor (this after roaming in useless Wookie Jerkin Hides for months), now you're telling me that the distinctive signature weaponof this proud species won't even be able to bullseye a durni or Corellia? Sad.

At the very least, they could have a basic bowcaster and an advanced bowcaster. Making bowcasters was actually the entire reason I played SWG, became a wookiee, and a weaponsmith! If they are nerfed, I will feel completely abandoned.
I still remember the day Quad Steel spawned and Imade my first bowcaster as Novice WS.... and it was still better than the bowcasters on TC5!

I accordance with the whole weapon balance issue....
Are we EVER going to see a 1/2way decent loot for Vibro Motors? Something that will allow a smith to actually have a Master Pikeman Customer (other than for the occasional Energy Lance)?? (and NO Nightsister Motors dont cut it, she spawns once every few days and hardly ever drops motors, and out of those even less are above what I can make lol).
How about a new loot from Super Battle Droids called Hypersonic Oscillator?
Have it add to speed and Max damage like a Krayt Tissue.
Or to keep it in line with the current schem of things (the best melee loot being replacement to component, rather than an enhancer, unlike ranged)
Hypersonic Vibro Motor, give it above the craftable best stats from normal vibro motors, and give them a good range of possible drops (like Acklay Bone and Rancor Tooth).
Im mean it would be nice to make a pike that was as good as just SOME of the ones looted off the Sisters.

Question:
There is a rumor going around that the less you have, the better. In other words, if a weaponsmith does not have the 2 extra points and uses crappy resources, their weapons will actually come out better than a 12pt weaponsmith's who uses the best resources. I personally think this idea is absurd and wanted to make sure this is not going to happen.
The new weapons look cool--can't wait to make them. -_-
Thanks for your time

From what i've seen of the new schematics, it seems the majority of them require no named resources whatsoever. I know this doesn't exactly mean much in the way of stats (since they can change the possible ranges internally to compensate), but it seems like there's something wrong with that. The trial by fire with WS has always been the resource requirements, but now it seems like there are a fair number of weapons that you could make quite well with just your run of the mill 900's generic metals. I don't know if / what problems there are with that, but it was just unsettling.
I'm kinda on the fence about this so I thought i'd throw it out to mull over.

I can't summarily rule it out, since I haven'tactually tried to testsuch a thingmyself, but you're right, that is absurd if it's true.
If it's actually happening, I canbe fairly certainthat it's a bug, though, and will be taken care of.

I can personally put to rest concerns about crappy resources giving high end results. On TC5 I was getting multiple moderates and goods on the barrels and abphs I made. Crit failed an experiment on the DHammer pistol I posted.
So from what I've experienced, crappy tools + Crappy station + crappy resources == moderates and crit fails.
I will DEFINATELY let you guys know if I see otherwise later tonight when I start building more weapons.
