I would like to see a WS being able to modify a weapon post crafting. I also want animations for experimenting. Give us something to look at. I was also thinking of total reconstruction of weapons to get back resources and krayt tissuesbutit might be used to buy weapons w/krayt to simply get the krayt (though it would be interesting).

Oh and I was hoping to learn something I didn't know! LOL. Too bad though, that is a good idea. Maybe be able to do that with cores and such and increase the risk of failures or poor success to counter the power? Not sure...

WangFang;
Off subjuect just a tad, but that comment on MAX v.s. Speed got me remembering a memo I sent around awhile ago. I know this is the Place Of Choice to dump XP for most folks, but after reading the ROF note (posted below) a lot of folks will change their minds.
Well - it sold a crap load of pistols at any rate <grin>.
AND I do agree that speed and MAX should be on different points - even though it would take away from the FULL weapon when making a choice between them. I have no solution to this without adding to the base 10 XP hits.
Sorry in advance for the length of this.
You asked about what is a damage capable pistol
You asked about what is a damage capable pistol
and that is hard to answer without a bit of a
discussion. One of the main faults with users who
have not had the advantage of a military training is
that they ignore Rate Of Fire. ROF is easy to
figure and is normally considered over a minute time
period (60 seconds). Think of it as a Target
Saturation Index.
EXAMPLE: We will use 3 weapons below to
EXAMPLE: We will use 3 weapons below to
consider the aspects of ROF. The ROF will be listed
as (20 seconds vs. 60 seconds) so the second number
is a more True ROF statistic. For the examples, (20
and 60) seconds is divided by Speed, and that is
multiplied by Max HP (assuming for our examples that
Every hit is at Max). Answer is given for (20 & 60)
seconds, which is a normal Low and Medium HAM kill
time.
W1 = 6.1 speed, 590 Max HP (1934 - 5803)
W2 = 3.0 speed, 290 Max HP (1933 - 5800)
W3 = 2.2 speed, 253 Max HP (2300 - 6900)
So Then, that Pistol looking weapon (w3) has the
W1 = 6.1 speed, 590 Max HP (1934 - 5803)
W2 = 3.0 speed, 290 Max HP (1933 - 5800)
W3 = 2.2 speed, 253 Max HP (2300 - 6900)
So Then, that Pistol looking weapon (w3) has the
potential to whack Much higher than that rifle
(W1). And the carbine type is about equal over a
long fight.
A true perfectionist would use a median of
A true perfectionist would use a median of
around 50% or so, rather than Max as we did. If you
care for the math, I will give another example using
a Carbine type weapon. Using the method above, the
2691 ROF below would be around 3085.
W4 = 3.5, 135-180. Median is middle of the Min
W4 = 3.5, 135-180. Median is middle of the Min
and Max (157), so..
W4 = 3.5 speed, 157 Median HP (897 - 2691).
This is actually a Much Better method when
W4 = 3.5 speed, 157 Median HP (897 - 2691).
This is actually a Much Better method when
considering the various weapons because of the large
differences between the Minimum HP’s on many
weapons. Carbine and Rifle MIN HP tends to be higher
than pistols (sometimes, heh heh)..
Here are the general stats on pistol types.
Here are the general stats on pistol types.
Consider that times will be +/- 0.5 and min/max can
be +/- 10 to 15 points different. It all depends on
resources used and some (like the E-11 which
requires Plumbug Iron) will always appear to be a
weak weapon because of the Specific materials called
for. The complied list assumes no Uber Loot or other
enhancements prior to the Make. Also, Good slices
will raise HP by 30-34% or drop Speed by a like
amount. (For my money, HP is a good slice for
pistols, while those rifles need help on Speed -
just MY opinion). Following values are SPEED,
MIN-MAX (60 Second ROF using MAX not Median):
