Hey, I find with most people the gerbil isn't dead, it just needs a moment to remember where the wheel is.
Some people I do beleve their Gerbil is dead......Take this encounter
Guy: hey
Me: HI, how can I help you? (I dont know who he is and I am not doing much right now so I am open to take a little custom job)
Guy: Can you make some RIS armor for me? I can pay you 10k
Me: Well, first off I would like to know what makes you think I can make armor....I am a weaopnsmith and I make weapons
Guy: Because I know all weaponsmiths are also armorsmiths. It makes it easier for us combatants to find stuff
Me: Well, meet one person who is a weaponsmith and not an Armorsmith
Guy: No, you are an Armorsmith so make me some RIS armor.
Me: second , 10k is very low for RIS armor. Try adding a few zeros to that price.
Guy: 100k!!
Me: No, i was thinking at the very least 2 million (no idea about weapon prices ut I know it would be atleast that)
Guy: I'm not going to pay you 2 million to make me a set of armor
Me: I know you arent because I cant make it. Now go find an armorsmith and tell him what you want.
Guy: Fine, Idon't need your stupid armor anyway
So some people's gerbils are dead, or at the very least, fell off their wheel

I get an e-mail from someone:
Subj: Acklay bones
Hi, I saw the bones you had on the floor and would like to buy them for 5million credits for all 3. Are they for sale?
my reply:
No.
Right after I send the message I get a /tell
Ok I'm paraphrasing here, but basically this is the extent of the convo...
Customer: why won't you sell the bones?
Me: They're not for sale
Customer: why aren't they for sale?
Me: I'm saving them for later
Customer: you saving them for your good customers?
Me: No, I'm not, I require loot components from customers to make custom weapons. I might make a Hammer or a Baton for myself in the future.
Customer: how about 5mil for 1 bone?
****Ok at this point I know 5mil is quite high even for a 160 dmg bone, I should have called his offer but I felt like stonewalling him just because he couldn't take no for an answer*****
Me: nope, not for sale at any price. And not to sound rude, but anything you see on the floor or my wall is not for sale, if you see something there, its for display or I'm saving it, if I want to sell somethign it will be on my vendor.
Customer: well #$^& how am I supposed to get an uber XXXXX (I forget what he wanted to make). Also he added some other rude comment about me actually being rude when I was actually being a bit more patient than some people.
The lesson?? Take no for an answer, if someone turns down a large amount of creds for something, they just _might_ not want to sell it.
I did get an email from him later that night appologizing for being a jerk, he asked for a reply and I told him I wasn't mad just a little annoyed at his persitance and to forget about it.
--Insert stupid Q, them saying you are dumb and they'll go somewhere else---
You: I'm sorry I can't help you out, but I do know this guy, -name-, he tells people he doesn't know that he's not a WS, but he REALLY is one, and a good one in fact, much better than me. You just have to convice him that you're his friend and he'll do what you ask.
Heheheh.
