This has happened to me twice in 15 months of crafting. The first time I got a "critical success" on an advanced pistol barrel. I didn't realize what had happened at the time, though, and ended up just making the prototype. D'oh. The second time it happened was on an advanced blaster rifle barrel, and this time I did the right thing. I turned out a schematic for a 17/17/-0.48 barrel. Sadly, I was trying to use up some old Duranium steel when I did this, and was able to make only around 125 of them. I only use them now in special stuff for my auctions, myself, or guildmates. Still have around 50 or so left.

I did get a critical success the other day
but it was on a composite chestplate and not on a magic stun layer, so they do exist, and would be nice to see more WS get them

Someone got one on an AV on SS. Turned out with 99% Experimented.

Guilty of this.. Don't ask what I paid fora custom built krayted T21 from Arox. BTW when I finally built up courage to get it sliced. got 31% damage

it's not a bug, this is the crafter version of exceptional/legendary loot. And like fighters....it takes dedication and a lot of repetition to be the one who gets it.
The complexity of an advanced vibro unit is 40, the same as a stun layer (part of the reason I chose to do these).
to precision: well duh, of course it isn't a big difference. The difference between 410 max T21s and 407 max T21s is pretty much nil, yet I sell more 410s than my 407 competitorsand I charge ahigher price. Ever done the math over the difference a +30 tissue makes to any gun against a mitigated opponent? It's negligible and yet players gladly pay 100k+ per tissue, plus a custom craft fee to have me make them a krayt gun which will inevitably be sliced worse than what they'd get from buying a crate of 10 and slicing.
Here's a newsflash for you number crunchers: the "unique/special factor" has tremendous weight with your customers. You may like think the entire server wants to be dressed in the same basic composite and use the same unenhanced weapons (made by you of course)....but everyone wants to be just a little better than their peers and competition. Even if it's only 15 damage per shot on the battlefield (which, with regen rates is actually quite noticeable over time btw) they still show off their gear to others, and anything that induces a "wow" response is worth a fair bit regardless of how much difference it actually makes.
I broke the 500 mark...probably going to set this project aside until I get lvl 4 assembly but I have resources to burn so I'm going to stick with it.

Yahn this is an exploit bug. For one its not supposed to happen. For each resource put in you get a set result. I can say that I have discovered five or six ways to make this bug happen.
But in all fairness I can give you a hint it does not involve chain crafting. You must do some specific things to bug a assembly to get the additional greater start stat, and where applicable higher experimentation.
Anyway if you figure out how to do it do not its an exploit. Plus do not waste a bunch of resources trying to get it to pop in.

Don't waste your time. The differences in damage reduction from a Stun Baton or Jawa Ion Rifle when wearing 44% Stun or 41% Stun is minimal.
Getting hit for Master Head Shot for 500 points of Stun damage, for example, wearing a 44% Stun Helment and 41% is a matter of 220 points of damage absorbed vs. 215 points of damage. Yes, only 15 points, and this is not considering any PSG's you're wearing or Sythsteak you have eaten.
It's a meager accomplishment by noob AS's who think they finally have something to brag about.
Any long time PVP'er knows the PSG absorbs damage first, then the armor. If they can't make 3K+ Condition 48% Stun PSG's, they suck, period, as Master AS's.

There's a thread or two on the AS forums about several armorsmiths who actually sat and ground out stun layers until they had one critical success (a very rare assembly that allows experimentation beyond the resource cap). Several smiths on several servers have been able to make 44% stun resist armor as a result.
I've been trying this with weapons crafting...I eat pyollian cake, I have maxed weapon assembly skill mods (+28 total actually), I work in a manufacturing facility and am x3xx force assembly. But after nearly 500 adv vibro units I've yet to see a critical success. Most armorsmiths, even ones without force crafting report somewhere between 100-250 attempts for a crit.
By the same token...armorsmiths seem get way more amazing successes and way more crit fails than we do. Has anyone else attempted something like this, and have they also noticed that weapons crafting seems to be pretty well inert in terms of varied experimentation results?
Even if the difference in protection is minimal, the crowd is many time's to fickleand will gobuy the 44%...

This is not an exploit lol, I don't feel like looking for the post on it. The dev's said it's a bonus of the crafting system and is intended to happen here and there.

Not an exploit. The crafting reward for phase II village quest is a saber tookit with 15 guaranteed "critical successes" to it. Proof that it is intended.

Oh really now muhahahah. I need to reactivate my weaponsmith and start cranking out plus five hundred max dam laser rifles. If the devs say that critical successess are legit. I can start churning out unstoppable weapons. Can you guys put the link up to a dev saying this is okay. When I brought the repeatable crit success I was told by the mod that this was a exploit, and that I had to send in all the ways I found to make it occur.
If you guys can show me a link to read so I am one hundred percent sure about it I will tell you exactly how to do it.

Ive had this happen alot, mainly making Bio-Engineer tailor tissues and food additives.
It doesnt seem to me that its some sort of wow success as ive tested it quite alot.
All this seems to be is this.... It takes the first resourse in the first box and uses that only, so sort of misses the rest of the resourses needed.
How i tested this is trying with some great flora in the first box and the worst meat ever in the other boxes, it made the additives as if all the boxes had the stats of the flora.
I had some avarage flora in the first box and great meat in the others and the stats were made as if uses the flora only.
I would say that to get one of these wierd successes is just luck and maybe lag not caculating the other reesourses or something like that.

i just got one on a advanced weapon stock. The initial crafting stage was 3% better in the damage line. The stocks came out 40/40 damage +.18 speed. The speed is the major difference.

I've gotten a critical success only once, on a T-21. Itcame out with424 max damage. Luckily I recovered my wits enough to make a schematic out of it.
Whether it's a bug or intended, I have no idea. Frankly, I haven't seen any dev comments on this one way or the other. Until someone can point out a dev post that definitively states it's a bug, I'll take advantage of it the next time it happens. And no, I don't know any vodoo mumbo jumbo tricks to make it happen on a regular basis.
