I agree with you, I've stopped wearing my Master tag for awhile now, it just gets too annoying. I'm using the 'Homemaker' tag, lol...it looks weird, but you dont get half as many /tell's...but to my surprise you do get the odd 'Can you please make me a small house ?'

Heh heh heh
Yeah, I wore the homemaker title for quite a while while still working on WS. My wife (RL) also plays, and she wore the businessman title. We thought it was a hoot to wear those when we were out together. And, yes, I did constantly get tells from people asking me to make them a house. I quit wearing it for that reason, actually.

If someone asks me to build a weapon for them I tell them. I don't do custom orders but I'll build some and put them on my vendor. If they want one they can come and get one, but I won't deliver it to them or have them come to me. This seems to work and sometimes it doesn't follow through, but usually does.

Almost since day one I've had 'Businessman' as my title. Although since getting a badge everytime you master something, I get /tell(s) in Starportsfrom people reading my Bio, asking if Im still such 'n' such Master and can I make them something. I'm not a Jedi grinder so I only have a few masters under my belt.

Stories like this are the reason I've never worn my Master Weaponsmith tag anywhere but in my pa's city where most people already know I'm a ws anyway. It doesn't sound like anything good ever comes of it.

Heh, I almost wonder if this is just the random result of the 14 day trial thing?
My wife and I were out taking a break from the crafting grind and just doing missions outside Mos Eisley (yeah, bad idea--I know). Some turkey comes over, starts shadowing us, and only shooting the lairs after we engage them. Heh, easy fix--we stop shooting, mutant womp rats chase him down and incap him. We finish the mission, he gets back up, and then he has the gall to run over and not only ask for money, but for training!!! Heh, we chuckled at him as we produced swoops and rode off.
I know that there are people out there that are new to the games, and I it's cool that SOE is using the trial to get newfolks to try it risk free. However, I don't buy it that somone would be out there pulling stunts like this (and the crafting deal) and not really know--if they downloaded it, I'd wagger they have enough savvy to know better. Heck, just by knowing they're in with real people on a game they should know better, even if they've never played any computer games before.
Seems to be a lot more people running around who just shouldn't...be...here!!!

This is exactly the reason why I keep my vendors stocked with newbie weapons. I use my past experience to know what to make.Things like DLT20's, DL44's, DH17's, SG82's and whatnot are BIG sellers as everyone who's going thru the Marksman tree wants them like nothing else. So I do a huge factory run of each, put them on my vendors for a reasonable amount for a newbie, thendirect any inquiries about said weapons to my vendors.

One thing you'll have to learn as a weaponsmith (if you want to be succesful) is how to read people who send you tells.
You have to decide if this person is someone who is wasting your time (Wanting you to deliver weapons to him is a good indicator. I had someone offer me 100k to deliver a couple of T21s to another planet for him. Wouldnt matter if it was 1 million, Im not going to be someones pizza boy) or if this is just a player who doesn't knowa whole lot and needs help.
The rest of this is just my opinion, and some will disagree with me. But 7500 credits for a dlt20 is a pretty high price for a weapon that newbies (who generally are desperate for money) use. If you plan to be a weaponsmith for the long run, you need to cultivate a customer base. Sell newbie weapons for a price newbies can afford. Heck even give away some free weapons from time to time (but make sure you make them come to your shop or get your waypoint!).
Pyrrhus' WS Tip #1: Todays poor newbie is tomorrows rich commando who will come in and drop 500k on rocket launchers and grenades in an afternoon.
The fact that youre "only a 10 pt. smith" does not put you at a disadvantage whatsoever. All the extra 2 experimentation points do is add prestige to those who dont know better and condition to the weapon. You can max outpretty much anyweapons damage and speed with 10 points. So don't feel like youre at a disadvantage to 12 points smiths. The only disadvantage youre at is in resources.
Pyrrhus' WS Tip #2: Resources are the end all and be all of weaponsmithing.

I have to admit, I have a pretty good supply of resources. Not Bria's finest ever, but pretty fair ones. I use Fooman's W/S tool to continually sample and check the current spawns versus my stock. So I do pretty well as far as the resource train goes.
Also, I know that 7500 was kinda steep, but I figured since I stopped what I was doing, flew to my house, manually went through ALL my resources to find the best ones (or as close as I could get), and then crafted the weapons for these guys, that it was a fair price.
thanks all for the advice and support. I often think that people take for granted the crafting professions. I did master Doc for a while too, and if your buff packs weren't EXACTLY even in their stats then some idiot would complain about it. That is when you wish you had a "unbuff" pack that you could throw at them to take away their buffs. I don't think they understand the hours of work it takes to hunt down a decent spawn source, place some harvestors on it, keep them going etc, etc, etc.
But enuf ranting.... again, thanks for your support and thoughts/ideas. If you see me around, say hey!!
