Thread: Orske's Current Best Resources for Weaponsmiths
Oke this is looking really nice right now. But what i think most of us would like to see is the ability to get the best spawns as well. Maybe just do it per weapon. So you don't have to do a ton of searches on swgcraft and i can imagine that will take a long time to load. Well a option to get a list of all the best resources for each server would be sweet
and it would help out a lot of starting and older people.
And in my opnion it would be nice to have a slight improvement in the design
. Right now it's a bit to confusing.
Example:
best: Osieium Kammris Iron at 786.5[(462->770cd)50% + (803oq)50%] [ 78% ]
Found on: Corellia(5d 2h):Naboo(5d 2h)
I have no idea what that red part is. The first is the CD the spawn has. But what is the second number/cd thing. Because i can't figure out what it is.
And the blue part? That's the total quality of the resource? For kammris that would be cd 500 oq 1000 at 100%? Well i'm guessing it is hehe.
The green part is? Because we have to use the caps on each resource now instead of pre-cu where everything was 1000 = 100% even if it caps lower. But kammris iron caps at 500 CD so the cd part for this iron would be 92% and the oq part 80%. Please explain it a bit
Maybe i'm just to tired after a long day of work but right now i can't figure it out

One thing I REALLY want to see, the ability to filter out 95%+ results for all schematics. That would allow me to pinpoint my harvesting VERY quickly.
Ask and ye shall receive.
Check it out:
Now have a 'top 5', 'top 10' and a filter to drop resources that don't calc to your specified threshold.
Let me know how it works.
Works very well, thanks!
For mining interests would it be possible to have the entire database combed and only pull out the top 10% of the resources listed? Something like that?
That way instead of going to SWG craft I can simply load the tool and click on "current 90%+ resources" and it will bring up anything in the entire weaponsmith listings that calculates out to 90% or over?
This would be valuable especially for us veteran smiths who already have stockpiles of high end resources and are really just playing completionist at this point. Or for that matter it would help new smiths to prioritize faster and for-profit miners to not waste their time and know exactly what WS on their server can use or might need.
Again, amazing tool!
EldritchArms wrote:Outstanding work, Im a believer, hehe.As for problems, I ran across this listed for several melee weapons, could also have been listed elswhere.Resource quality does not matter here. Basically, use your cheapest stuff. It wasn't true in the cases i found it, notably the Black Sun Executioner's Hack and the Scythe Blade. This seems to be the proper response.Either resource quality does not matter here or SWGCraft has no Diatium Copper listed!Just something you might want to update. But an outstanding tool. One thing I REALLY want to see, the ability to filter out 95%+ results for all schematics. That would allow me to pinpoint my harvesting VERY quickly.
Errors in 'use cheapest stuff' removed. All cases where resource quality does not matter or SWGCraft has no data now display same message.
Will work on a filter. I think I'll add a 'top 10' option (and maybe top 5 since it would be all the same code, really) -- and perhaps an option to not list results with the modified value being below a certain threshold that can be changed by the user? (like a drop-down select or text box where you can enter a value where you don't care about resources that score below that).

another nice feature would be to dump the history of swgcraft into your database and show each resources compared to the best ever spawn.
the functionality so far is just awesome, a little polishing on the layout and a couple usabilty enhancements and you have the gold standard. i love the simplicity, if you can retain that while adding these simple items youre set!
Yeah, I just finished up armorsmith the other day also, and they really want a history option also. I tried at one time to do it myself, but it screwed something up major, so I'll be looking into pulling SWGCraft data if I can. Unsure of ETA for that though, as I haven't even had time to look into it.
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated, keep it coming!

Thanks. Trokk (from SWGCraft) does not let out historical data apparently according to the site, but I've sent him an email, in hope that he'll do a DB dump and send me a zipped resource file, so we can query that too. We'll see, I'll let you know what I find out.
So, basically, the only data he allows for export is his current resources list. Now, I *may* be able to work around that, but it would be ugly and slow, not to mention it's just not nice. I'd rather not do that, unless you guys *really, really* want historical data, heh.

Then maybe he should get his own search updated with the times. I mean this new calculation method has been live since what April?

Yep would be nice to see that updated or give out the "history"
But that zipped dump file would be huge even in pure text mode. That's a lot of resource spawns. And for current resources well it's handy because it limits the amount it shows with only best
But without the history the use isn't good enough for me.
And thanks for the explanation hehe i get it now ![]()

You'd be surpised what gzip -9 can do

You'd be surpised what gzip -9 can doThough, you're right, I still fully expect it to be...oh, 10mb with that. My *guess* is 100mb without compression on flat file dump. Care to take wagers?
Oh i know but i'm guessing that swgcraft dbase is pretty damn complex and it will be a load of data

Sorry about that, I modified the original post. I didn't need the data files anymore, as I had finished them off myself. Thanks for the reminder.
EDIT FROM FIRST POST: Removed broken links from data sets listed above, as they are now finished, and no longer need data. Just let me know if you see errors in calculations of the tool itself, or if I used the wrong stats on resources/schematics...etc. Thanks!
