For the vk's themselves I am trying a new recipe with copper that has 783 SR and steel with 994 SR. Hopefully they will turn out nice.

Well, you can make some logical assumptions.
Copper isn't know for it's toughness, but conducts well.
Wood generally doesn't have high Shock Resistance, but is known for it's malleability.
And so on.

Not only in a general term, but in most instances the particular "type" of material is of higher quality than others. Maybe it's just Tempest, but compare the spawns of Polysteel and Berylius Copper....The OQ, as well as overall stats seem to consistantly be MUCH higher on the Polysteel. Same with Kiirium Steel, it seems that the stats on this are always inherently lower than other types.

Yah, Duralloy steel seems to always have SR, HR, and UT that is over 900
