Yeah I agree... The crafting FS xp requirements are ridiculous. There's no way that 175k fs xp is supposed to be fun. hell i whole line of WS is about 175k xp give or take.. Now this is 175k FS xp... with a 5:1 weapon xp to fs xp conversion factor... Someone please tell me how that is supposed to be fun.

It's supposed to be a grind, it's supposed to be 'work'....there are many variable ways combat-oriented players can differentiate themselves and excel, and not so many for crafters (look at the price of experimentation tapes compared to combat accuracy tapes for example...and WS exp doesn't even really do much). So obviously to establish superiority as a crafter it's gonna take something more significant.
I expect we'll see a lot of 1-1-0-1 force crafters and such, very few will pursue the grind to completion...and you know what SOE says to that?
VOILA!!!
a system where every crafter is not equal, where it's not a simple matter of 10 or 12pt smith and everyone is a master.
you see....for your combat friends, once they finish their 4+ branches, they then have further quests to pursue (namely being a jedi, or obtaining more combat related branches). But once a crafter is a master of force-crafting...that's it, you're king of the world. So it better darn well be near impossible to do. I for one like this set up, and am aiming to be my server's first true master of crafting
only...29,900 or so more warheads to craft /chuckle.

does it matter which xp you use for this even if you are a weaponsmith can you use Artisan xp does it matter?
I was thinking if i make speeder bikes it would give me 1500 xp each bike or does it have to be only weapon stuff you grind to get experimentation fs or once you get exp fs it is good for all crafting.

I heard that bikes and speeders give less exp than normal
I was thinking of doing personal harvestors too, but it doesn t really matter what is grinded, still and insane amount of resources.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=41395
is the key i think - Its probably worth getting the architect skills to shorten the grind:
5250 xp for each gugan head statue, they dont need a station to make them, and the resources are generic, easy to find and relatively cheap

Arch exp converts at 1:35 instead of 1:5 like all other crafting, Architect is the absolute worst grind in the game now.

Personal harvestors are probably best if you are only an Artisan. However, the General Crafting xp exchange rate is 8 to 1, and General Crafting xp caps at 50K (not that big a deal I suppose, you can just live in the village for a while). Arch is the worst--grinding Gungan Heads would cost something like 70 million credits for the ore alone (at 3 cpu), and harvesting that much ore yourself will take many months, unless you happen to have a huge cross-server lotstatic harvestor farm. Personally I don't think there's any 'great' way to grind crafting-related xp--just pick the one that's best for your profession.

Given this, In my experience, I would say that the Probot chassis would likely be the best grind then, they use only steel and fibreplast and you donèt need to be next to a station so you can macro it. I just remember being able to do DE in about 8hours which was quite fast compared to Weaponsmith.

I'd just like to point out that the "best" grind might not be a weaponsmith item. After all, you just need some sort of crafting xp, not weapon crafting xp.

with heavy warheads i can do WS in less than 6hrs. they are the best thing to grind, but they require so many specific resources...
personal harvs would be a decent alternative while you are waiting for skevon to return. just make sure while you wait you are gathering all the metals you are going to need.
