Just a word of caution to peeps putting the stats in the names. The combat rebalance in a few months is going to be retroactive on weapons and armor (this is straight from Devs at Fan Fest). You may find yourselves stuck with inventory that is mislabeled if you don't move it within the next couple months.

This is a good point, and good to keep in mind. However, the CB has been pushed back to the end of this year or even intonext year, probably at least six months away.

Personal naming protocol:

<Default Weapon Name> <text describing scope/stock if any> <Speed> <Damage> <Range or HAM cost> <My name>

Example: Laser Rifle w/AccuScope (Spd4.3,Dam80-442,IdlRng+87) by Amizar

If it's krayted, put "KRAYT" in front of weapon name.

If I use a 0/0/0 HAM scope with around +15 to range, I call it "AccuScope"

If I use a 17/17/17 HAM scope with +43 to range, I call it "UberScope". (people are far too drawn to the word "uber")

I include Ideal Range or HAM cost depending on what I spent my extra experimentation points in for both subcomponents and the final assembly.

If space becomes an issue I'll replace "by" with "-", or knock out the range/HAM text. May knock out the scope/stock text too in extreme circumstances. Or replace the stock and scope text with just the word "Advanced" in front of the weapon name.

And then there's the novelty item names, which tend to go on weapons that probably aren't big sellers.

I.E.

"Metal Staff of Ass-Whuppin"

"Heavy Axe of Gnort Slaying"

"Wooden Staff of Metaphoric Phallic Representation"

etc...

I started putting the speed/ damage and wound chance in the weapon title back when double slicing was running rampant. I also stateif it's Nym Enhanced, Krayt Enhanced etc. Just stuck with that format along with a signature, ie:

Power Hammer (5.3 138-470 32.2%)-by Rangerw

or

Scatter Pistol *Krayt Enhanced*(1.9 121-216 34.9%)-by Rangerw

the only thing i'm doing different with naming including the guild name with my name in parantheses since there is more than 1 ws in the guild...its to designate what is mine on the guild vendors.

the stats i write in with the word"preslice" so that the buyer knows what the beginning stat is and compare with the ending stat since everything i sell is sliced. that way they can also see if that particular weapon got a speed or damage slice. i then price according to the percentage and type of slice over the cost of the weapon, which they can follow a bit by looking atall the same type ofweaponon the vendor at once.

i do have people who prefer one type of slice over another for different weapons and since i can't control it, i want to make sure they can tell them apart is all.

I use

-Special- -Weapon Name- -using- by BtB

Where Special is Krayt, Ackley, Geo Crafted, Fanged etc

Using is if I use enhanced components or special parts such as a Form Fitted Stock or an unusual item (like a 40/40 stock on a carbine).

I dont put stats on as every other crate is sliced. I also sell by the crate to slicers.

I use ( DarkTech Laser Carbine 310-80dmg 4.1spd 968/968cnd) I put condition in the line so people can see if it been repaired, just incase it showes up on the bazaar.

I never liked using stats in my weapons, as I was getting daily /tells from people about the stats, since everything I sell is sliced.

So, I settled on a fairly simple scheme:
(Weapon Type) Mark (iteration) - (added component type) by Astreus Arms

So, for example, you get:
Laser Rifle Mark II-SaTm by Astreus Arms
Laser Rifle - Second Iteration, Advanced Scope and Maximum Damage Stock, by Astreus Arms (my company name.)

Since I archive all of my final combine schematics, I can always refer back to the iteration number to know the stats of the weapon (and I built a spreadsheet to track these as well.)

I prefer

[Weapon Type] [Dmg/Speed] [Damage Type] [AP Rating] [Special Name (opt)]

For instance

SG82 Rifle -228/5.6-Cold-AP0- SnowStorm

Or something to that effect.

It already says that, in "Created by".

I get business this way anyway, without my name in the title.

Unless the weapon is sliced and then the created by can change to the person who did the slice...

I always do my last name then max DMG, speed soped or stocked and if range is really good i put that on the end.
So one of my weapons might look like this " Fortuni - MOD Republican Blaster 220 2.1 (Scoped) Range +4 "

Interesting responses... leaves a bit to consider. Upon reflection, I think I'm going to keep using the standard name first so that people can see it easily in their inventories. HAM costs I think are a bit too much clutter in the name, but I'm going to start putting the AP rating in too whenit's not 0- will help newbies see why they should be paying double for a two-handed axe over a heavy axe with similar damage stats (they're my main clients atm).

Not sure what I'll do about enhancements, but it'll be a while before this is any trouble for me! Might go with the D18 Pistol (Krayt) 34-85 @ 2.1 by Aethal formula (and no, I wouldn't use one on a D18!
