Weaponsmith Archive
Thread: Finally Started Weaponsmith ... well well well ... is it supposed to be like this ?
I may be wrong.. and I have long since forgotten. I've been a master weaponsmith for so long.
Anyway.. One item caught my attention. Grinding WUK's for WS experience?
I thought WUKs were artisan XP?
I mention this because you may be losing time grinding an artisan piece of gear.
Anyone know for sure? As I said.. it's been too long since I trained WS.
The grind and how you choose to go about it is really irrelevant. I was fortunate enough to have both Hydron 3 and Skevon spawn just as I was getting ready to grind and so went the heavy warhead route. I used 7 tools at a time and so was able togenerate about 5k xp every 90 seconds or so and did it without a macro as that would have slowed me down. You can avoid a lot of clicking just be using enter to move to the next page rather than clicking. You only need to click the resources that way and click "create prototype' when that comes up. This method can be done in hours.
As stated before, what you really need to do is form a close personal relationship with swgcraft.com and learn what resources are used for what and what the important stats are. Then use the "find resources" function to evaluate the relative quality of currently spawning resources relative to past spawns for the same resource type. You can sort the list by the important stats and this will help you become familiar with the stat limitations inherent in certain resource types, otherwise you will look at certain resources and view them as poor quality because the important stats are not 900+ when they may actually be the best of that type that's ever spawned.
Once you've developed the means for evaluating resource quality it's time to go to work mining the resources. You need the biggest harvesters you can afford. BER13's on my server sell for around 150k each, and as a new player I didn't have anywhere near enough cash to buy enough to use up my lots. I started out with BER2's off the bazaar and sold resources when I could and poured everything into upgrading. If I knew then what I know now, I would have found the biggest resource dealers on my server and asked if they would provide harvesters in exchange for use of my lots and the production from the harvesters for a certain amount of time. They would provide the waypoints for what they want harvested so you would just set them down and move them when needed. The dealer could get a couple hundred thousand extra units of whatever they are harvesting in a couple of weeks and you would end up with the harvesters. If you need income to support the maint/energy costs of the harvesters, perhaps the dealer would be willing to buy a portion of your production for 2 cpu or whatever if you dont' have an alternate source of income or a big bankroll.
Yep WUK's are artisan items they use artisan xp and all the only wierd thing is you need to be a WS as well to get the schematic.

so I figured out to find skevon and hydron (skevon just spawned on eclipse and I got hydron for 3 cpu)
and I started my way with heavy warheads, I play 3 characters, so I'm not even close to master, but while I hunt or do other character's stuff I can either survey for ressources, and/or place my harvesters so I have like 10 harvesters stocking ressources I'll need later, at least some.
I like the idea of heavy warheads cause I don't like to grind for hours, so with those, I can double click for like an hour, then move with another char or level carbines with the ws one, then go back to double click...
that way I can run the macro sometimes, get significiant xp, and still keep playing the game.
ressources are alot of work, for sure, but I just get VERY good ones from bazaar (some people may have like NO idea of what they worth), like I have the hardest time to find grinding steel as "uber" steel is cheaper atm (why pay 5cpu for grinding when you can have quality for 1.5 or 2 cpu ? )
I got 0123 lately and started to see how crafting would be with some exp points, and I have to say that I may enjoy WS ALOT !
