There are skill enhancers for these.

The scary thing is, there's also one type just called 'repair'. My guess it's all still fubar.

From the sounds of it I was lucky with the few weapons I repaired. One was sliced one was normal.

Question is where you guys near a crafting table?? I had a LE Repair Droid with weaponcrafting modules out that I personally built when I did these repairs. I don’t know if that had any effect or not but it might have.

Everyone seems to think that a Master Weaponsmith can repair a weapon better than a non-Weaponsmith. Can we at least get SOE to apply that thinking to the game? In truth, I have just as good a chance to repair a weapon as a person that just started playing that day.

Eliss,

I'm pretty sure they implemented the whole idea of crafting professions being able to repair their stuff better than the combat classes.

WS repairs weapons better than all other professions

AS repairs armor better

I'm pretty sure it went in with this last BIG release

Copied from the 10/8/03 patch notes:

  • Skilled crafters gain bonuses for the repair of items within their field.

  • So why not just put in a "Weapon Repair +10" or something similarfor my skills to make this obvious?

Repair seems to be somewhat more consistent now, I repaired 5/6 weapons with "minor blemishes" and lost around 50 durability (2 of these were below 50%), the sixth was "marginal success" and lost around 200 durability. I'm using 99.90099 tools made from 999 con copper.

I'm not expecting perfect successes on everything, but this is much better than the random critical failures before.

Just had the weaponsmith in my guild repair my LLC and laser carbine for me last night...he was successful and I only lost about 50 overall quality on them (they are down to 900/900 now or something).

I've repaired about a half dozen guns during the course of the game, both pre- and post- patch and before and after becoming a Novice WS (I'm not a master yet, long way to go). The last couple were with a 50 rating repair tool and I've always gotten the "minor blemishes" result, which is about a 50 point drop in condition. I guess I've just been really lucky when repairing my guns.

OK ppl if you are using any repair 'kits' that have been made before the patch they are useless, the schematic has been changed(pity they didn't mention that piece of info)and it is called a repair tool now (I hope I have these around the right way but you get my drift i hope and pls correct me if i got htem mixed up). The new 'tools' do not require any optional components so if you use the old ones no matter what the efficiency rating is I am not suprised that they failed as it would seem that the new ones will use some variable to determine success that WS are supposed to have gained (again like others I have seen no additional skill mods that have been added so I will question whether they are there).

I have done 4 repairs since the patch. 2 with repair kits from pre patch, 2 from post patch. The 2 repairs I did with the pre-patch repair kits poofed. The 2 repiars with the post patch kits, minor blemishes. These were made with the exact same materials and there was 0 difference in the effectivness

    Some food for thought.

Well, do you want weapons to last forever? were the stats lowered at all? Or did it just go down to 590/590? That seems okay to me, if we could repair them perfectly all the time, with only 50 condition loss each time, weapons would last a LONG TIME. And you would sell about..I dont know 20-40% of the weapons you sell now, becuase they would last forever.

May not be a real nice thing, but weapons falling apart keeps us in business. With the thousands of new smiths grinding there way up weaponsmith, the market is going to go through the floor eventually anyway. In six months, when all the new people have lots of good resources, this will be a totally different profession. Do you really want to push the devs to "Fix" weapon repair, so we do it perfectly all the time? So when the best guns on servers are selling for 1/3 or less of what they're selling now, they will also last for months.

Seems like a bad idea to me, they fall apart, its decay, you just have a chance to repair it.
