Thread: I lasted 6 hours as Master Weaponsmith
It is a hard profession to master....even after you get the Master Weaponsmith Title.
I had no illusions of whatr was to come when I had decided to go weapons. I was a Master Architect (a thankless, mundane job for me) and when the decision was made, I started devoting many harvesters to collecting weapons grade materials. I sold just what I needed to in architecture (lots of furniture) to get by. I gradually did the weapons rind during this time. When I hit MastrWeaposmith, I was short a critical resource to make a very needed advanced component, so I spent countless hours hunting some down, and finally a player just gave me several K of it (fellow arch had it stashed as was going out of business) and I was in business! I started out with just a few weapons, and have been growing steadily. I knew that I could not give up my day job (architecture) immediately, but I did progress. I finally detrained architecture and am devoted to the craft. The architect in me makes me continue to mine many of my own resources. I am starting to rely on a few miners, but for the most part, I have been very disappointed with the bigger professional miners on my server.
If you grind your way to master, you miss something. What you miss is all the knowledge and resources that you learned while gaining experience. What you missed is all the experience of other people.
You have access to swgcraft. Did you look at the shopping lists for the things that you wanted to make? Did you make a plan for how you would start your buisness? Once you had 9/10 of your experimentation points, did you start teaching yourself how to make various items? Did you try to sell anything, at any price? Did you learn the lesson of what sold and what didn't? Did you try and sell anything just to cover resources? Did you make anything other than metal staves?
Any crafter requires an understanding of his market, his resources, the time to manufacture, his suppliers, and his skills in order to be successful. You can't grind that.
Hi guys and gals,
Just an update. I stopped chasing after the holos and am building my favorite template again. Master Smuggler/Pistoleer and most of Merchant. I still slice and sell the weapons I import from MWS, and hope to continue doing this for some time.
Thanks again for all your comments. And if you are on Chilastra, send me an email! I'm always looking for good suppliers.
heh . . . pretty tough it is. Great to see that you experienced the pain of MWS there Rai. You ever need anything . . . feel free to contact me. I carry basically everything at pretty close to top quality.
And the 4million credit resource run . . . . I just got done with an 8 million credit resource run myself. And I've collected since August. *shakes head*
Good luck with the continuing operation of your shop.

Yep, that about sums it all up. You missed having your work invalidated by the new uber drops, being told by your clients that you need to cut your prices at least by 90% on the uber drop items because they are now "junk".
But you at least didn't miss having all the work you just did thrown out the window if you don't unlock before the Jedi nerf.
my favorite is the newbie WS selling stuff made by them for 3cpu of materials used and driving the prices thru basement.
I refuse to play along, my vendors remain stocked and I have a steady trickle of customers. I'm happy but not ecstatic. Really the only way to make creds in this is buy/harvest krayt tissues/nym feeders/nightsister power adders and sell those are ridiculously high prices.
ehh I laugh at the rampant inflation of the other professions and how prices of WS stuff keeps on falling. They'll learn when there are only about 6 left on the server.
