Thread: Do you have to be a 12-point weaponsmith to be successful?
its a yes and no answer yes you can be successful and no you cant....
i'll explain
to us mws yes your a success, your scouts are fast and your laser carbs kick ass.....but to "joe public".....its a different story
because you still have that tag above your head every day you will get asked "that question"
eg;
idiot tells you: hi
you the mws replys: hi how can i help you (or just "what")
idiot tells you: can you make me a gun?
you the mws replys: well i am a weapon smith, chances are .....I CAN
idiot tells you: do you have 12 points?
you the mws replys: no sorry, but it doesnt make much difference
idiot tells you: thats not what <insert rival mws's name here> said, he has 12 points)
you the mws replys: idiot
i think we have all been there.hence i say yes you will succeed in our eyes (your supporting peers) but in the eyes of the idiot public...your just another 10 point smith.(after all the public believe 12 points is what a REAL weap smith should have)(just ask idiot, he'll tell you hehehe)

I was a 10-point weaponsmith on Lowca for several months and sold a ton of weapons. Good resources are key to making good weapons. Maybe they would've been "great" instead with more pts, but I still sold alot. However, if you want to sell, vendor location and your willingness to make factory-made newbie weapons to sell on the Bazaar are also important. I got a lot of sales from people buying stuff on the bazaar and then a few hours/days later, I'd see the same player buy 2-3 items from my vendors. Especially stuff like VKs and 2-H curved swords, seems like many smiths don't make enough melee weapons.
There's no such thing as enough melee weapons ![]()
14 days ago, I stocked 50 2H Curved, 75 PHs, 75 VKs, 75 Gad Bats, 75 Stun Bats, 50 LVAs, 75 VLs, 65 Lances.
4 days ago? They were all gone.
Melee weapons are a good field to get into.

Our shop is 3 weaponsmiths combined, I only do melee weapons and I probably make more than the ranged guys ![]()
I also sell melee weapons in crates of 5 and 10, I'm the only one on server who does that and people absolutely LOVE it
To give some figures, last weekend alone I sold like100 gaffi, 100 vk, 50 stun baton, 60 power hammers, 60 2h curved, 40 LVA, 30 vibro lances,...
Don't ignore your melee, it gives u a great reputation, and it's easy to keep stocked coz most weapons only need 1-2 subcomponents
We share a clothing set of +12, but as stated above it's only needed to decrease HAM costs, or give a better accuracy on pikes/PH
It's only the resources that determine the max speed/dmg u'll get, not the extra 2 points

uh, what's bespin port and what's a research center?
thanks!
At the end of the day a +12 taper does better than a +10 given all other things are equal. Especially on high end custome builds where you need to be able to get to the last bubble and survive a moderate......
I would love to have the +20 odd in skill tapes.....
Im an indepenadant (no guild), I cant play 9 hours a day (Real Life intrusions bah !) so my only hope is to buy the tapes.
Now it takes alot of graft to make 10million credits and I have to say I find it irksome that 10million credits wont get me a +7 tape. You cant deliberatly set out to loot a +7 skill tape (im not including borgle-esque 3rd party macro looting as I like to thinkg that sort of thing cant happen).....so I find it a tad absurd that a loot kill can generate such a magical item......
However other than some quest, I cant think of a way to reward the hard working WS...well actually I can....but it would be too hard....I dreamof asystem based on Usage XP. Where UXP contributes to 'esteem' or some such thing which in turn over a very long period of time adds to your WS base upto a max of 25.
This would need to be capped on aper-player basis, so each individual can only generate a tinyamount of UXP. Thus to become a +25 you would have to sell 10,000's of weapons to1,000's of players and over time you wouldreap an appropriate reward.
Ah well...back to the auciton boards.....I bid 11 millionfor that +7 tape......![]()
