Thread: Reselling Weapons...should I have a problem with it?
[...]I would scale the rebates based on the crate size.
- 5 item crate 5% off
- 10 items is 10% off
- etc, etc.
Hi all,
Came here looking for an answer to this very question. I am a Master Smuggler andrecently was contacted by a WS and told he was mad i was selling his weapons. He admits I sliced it and have the right to resell but not higher then he sells them for.
Here is the problem. With slicing now most often factory weapons slice the same. If i slice one weapons for 8% speed most likley ALL will slice that same % and stat. However, I occasionally by 3-5 rifles / pistols, if i can find them with varying stats, since i have multiple accounts and multiple combat proffessions, and I slice them all keeping the ones that fit my needs and reselling the rest (obviously not going to just destroy them since i can make back what i spent and a lil more for the slice addition). I have only bought out one vendor and that was with his permission as he was leaving the game and told me it was cool.
Anyhow, as for pricinghigher thenthis WS... Going from shop to shop looking for higher dmg /speed weapons and making purchases from several vendors on whatever day I happen to be shopping I do not recall which weapons came from where and how much. I know i can keep the email receipts but with a full mall and friends / guild mails i can get over 100 a day (spices move fast some days at 2k a crate)and so idelete messagesfrequently to keep it low and easily managed. Appearantly this merchant / WS sells his Adv. Laser Rifles for about 20-30k under avereage market value so I am pricing post slice (that I dont use) at just above market value since it is now sliced. Additionally I had a very large stock pre-cu is my banks and no idea what-so-ever what i paid.
As weaponsmiths, honestly, am I in the wrong here. Not purposely trying to scr*w this WS but they seem to think that I am giving them a bad name? Already not buying any more weapons that i see from this guy to avoid this issue with him personally. And with the CU and (since my combat toons solo almost always) I spam specials instead of the basic attack so I go through weapons pretty fast.
I am constantly checking current market value to keep within or lower then current if it keeps my headabove water, and having a merchant for almost7 months and my smuggler for longer then that, only delt with this once before and it was with a AS who just asked to be notified if i was reselling his armor post slice since he was getting tells from friends about it and did not have an answer for them re: this.
As for the crated weapons, honestly, large volume crates (20-25) do you not expect this? Again not trying to offend or be an a** just asking, If I buy crates I usually send a mail to the WS and say"I am going to slice and keep what i like and resell the rest. If this is not satisfactory send me a mail and let me know. If you do not respond within a few daysI will take that as permission to do so." and usually give them a about a week to respond prior to listing the remaining weapons.
Just looking for some honest feedback. Sorry its a long message just wanted to make sure I got it all in there. ![]()
Thank you.
Well to answer you post. I think most people have their own take on the reselling situation (as this thread clearly shows). My opinion to your points is as follows.
I do not mind people buying 3 weapons slicing them, keeping the best and selling the rest to cover their expenses, what I do mind is when people buy me out. Im trying to run a business and my costumers rely on me to have what they need in stock. When someone buys me out continously they ruin my business plain and simple.
My weapons vendor is located near other of my vendors that benefits from the weapons vendor being there. It generates trafic. If its empty it doesnt generate any trafic.
I like to think that people recognise my name, but I do not like being connected to unjustified high prices.
If people wants to continously resell my weapons on a large scale they should ask permission from me and Id say no, but others might not have a problem with an arrangement like that and it would all be fine and dandy.
As for crates, well Ill have to agree that especially after CU it just screams resale, which is why I do not stock crates myself.
When all comes down to it I guess it up to the individual crafter. I myself feels that when I have done all the work of collecting reosurces, managing factories, spent sp in both a crafter and a merchant profession, crafting the final product and listing+ stocking the vendor I should at least get the reward that I feel it is to cather to a lot of different people. Credits aint all.
just my 2 cents
