As said already, its not a secret, every NPC has the chance to drop tapes/attachments/whatever.

Aa'Kuan only seem to drop AA's and no CAs

not true. today i looted 1CA and 2AA's off aa'kuan champions (med exp +3 CA, polearm sped +6 AA and two hand damage +5 AA). the tend to drop more AA's but they do drop CA's. also, i never looted anything higher then a +6 and i average +3's normally off the champions. i take missions out of player cities for them instead of the cave btw (8.6K mission in an imporved job market city).

force crystal hunters on dantooine can drop up to +12 AA/CA's (highest i seen off them anyway). i've looted acouple +12'sbutthey were useless, mybest loot was a def vs intimidate+7from them. not badat allconsidering thier difficulty.

maruader stronghold on corellia is usually good for a +2 or so CA/AA per spawn, not sure but i think it's a 3 hour respawn there. not very high mods but a fairly easy run for a lower level combatent.

black sun npcs on yavin drop highish attachments plus the chance for BH armor, becareful if they pull out a T21 though.

No need to look up websites and stuff.

Just kill NPC's.

As the increase in difficulty the higher the mod on the S.E.A.

Loons +1's

High ranking Imps/Rebs +5-6 range

Anything higher than these can drop 9+ Tapes.

Nite sister elders, Dark Jedi's can drop 20+ tapes.

Nuff said. No need to go running around looking up sites and stuff. Its easy just KILL KILL KILL cause they are random drops.

Lord Nyax drops sweet loot! I got a +13 armor repair CA, a +12 ws experimentation CA, and a Awesome health bleed LLC. It's just hard to find the guy at home.

Here is what I know for tapes:

Meatlumps, ragtags, any other lamer with less than 1000 hp can drop +1's.

Swooper leaders can drop +2

Night sister sentinal +10

Night sister Protector +16

Sith Thug (the badass ones from phase IV) -18 (not sure if that converts to +18 being possible as well) and +9 on the pos side

Sith Pirate +4

Surface Marshal +5

Dark troopers +6

Nyax +15

Imperial Inquisitor +14

Night Sister Elder +25 and always 2 stats

These are the tapes I have personaly looted. Quantity seems to be the key here. You need to be a real mass murderer to get at the SEA's. The best drop rate I have found is Nightsister Elders at about 1 in 10-1 in 15. I have probably killed over 100 protectors, and have looted 1 SEA. Sith thugs might be a little bit better. I have killed probably 50-60 and gotten 1, but that might have been luck instead of average. Swooper leaders are pretty good. In a 3 hour AFK session, i will almost always end up with 2 SEA's, and sometimes 3. Kind of depends on how religious I am in emptying my inventory of crap. Hope this helps.

cool. Thanx everyone for the info. Now my next question should be: How do you kill this stuff. I was talking to a master Rifleman the other day and asked him if he goes to Dath and kills Nightsisters. He laughed at me and said: "No way. They make mincemeat out of me." So I figure that they can't be soloed, so how big of a group and of what professions should you take on a nightsister hunt?

They can be soloed.Or at least so I have been told, I go with my master pistoleer(not the greatest pve profession) to back up my melee stacker friend and we do allright but the elder's still give us problems. Mind buffs and intimidate 2 are very helpful plus its always nice to have someone with some medic or doctor to do a little healing from time to time.

Master Riflemen and Master Swordsmen seem some of the best at taking them down. Swordsmen are good with there blast damagepower hammers.

NS elders can be solo'ed. You'd have a best chance if you were a speed capped swordsman with sufficient healing abilities. A better approach is to bring a friend you trust and take turns looting. You will kill them more than twice as fast than if you were soloing. My suggestion is a Rifleman pairing up with a Swordsman.

Lord Nyax has a good drop rate for quality SEAs. He is on a 3h40min respawn timer, and will likely be camped.

The two loot piles in the Borgle Bat caves spawn tapes ranging up to +8-ish. You can grab some really good SEAs here with very few fighting skills. The piles are on a 10 hour respawn timer and are heavily camped on most servers. I picked up a +3 WS tape here the other day, just what Ineeded toget my 11th point. (Note: This spawn is easily abusable. If you suspect someone of running a 3rd party macro to AFK loot the piles, you should contact a CSR.)

As for all the other NPC's, I am very interested in hunting them to get a chance at high-mid-range SEAs. I've had some decent luck with the Lok NPCs, but will have to revisit the Black Sun and Force Crystal Hunters as its been a while. I am also planning to pick up the FS Luck tree. There has been no official confirmation that those skills help you get better loot, but many have reported seeing better loot drops after picking up the branch. Sure it may all be coincidence, but I'm not going to risk missing out on something good by skipping those skills.
