It's properbly true that there are alot more crafters around now.

I for one has Mastered WS again because i missed it, not so much the selling of the vendors but making personalized weapons for people.

I have 2 accounts and one has only 5 boxes of FS left to grind out and the other is my favourite MWS, MM and 4 0 0 0 Smuggler. I can tell you that I don't have the time to finish my FScharacter and I much rather play my weaponsmith. I have a loyal customer base and I run 2 shops along with custom orders. I get much more gratification in making a quality product that people use and always comment on how good my weapons are.

I was lucky enough to take over weaponsmith from our PA's retired weaponsmith and he gave me all the necessary resources to carry on his legacy. I have his swoop helm in my main shop sort of like a dedication memorial.

I love being a weaponsmith!

I'm new. As a matter of fact I'm grinding it at this very moment. Actually I ground this out way back when, during my holo days, but I've been thinking of picking it up for real for quite some time. Don't know if I'll stay permanently, but I couldn't put off the allure of being a weaponsmith any longer.

hehe, I was rich before I became a WS. In fact I make less money as a WS than I ever did when I was combat profs. WS is more hobby for me, I became a WS because I enjoy making exceptional weapons. And that's what I have become known for. Whenever someone is looking for a truely exceptional customweapon I'm one of the first smiths recommended.

I couldn't imagine actually trying to make money off of WS lol. You'd have to be crafting 24/7 which simply is not something I'm that interested in. I hand craft the majority of my weapons, the only thing that gets factory runs are components so I can get mass loads of those all amazing components . I make decent money every once in a while selling enhanced weapons, but I don't stock a vendor so it's not consistant.

This may not be a signal of new influx. I've noticed a lot of people pick up 0040 WS to do the FS grind for crafting. Architect, though vastly easier to garner experience in, has a terrible conversion rate (or so i hear). Weaponsmith seems to have a good conversion rate coupled with an item to grind for relatively good experience. Since i was already a MWS, i did the heavy warhead mechanism dance to grind out my force sensitive crafting experience.

If this is some sort of Jedi alt extravaganza, some of the people will quickly realise how much dedication, and raw credits it takes to compete as a good weaponsmith, or just make good weapons for your friends (never wanna give a friend something second rate or worse)

I am grinding to try WS. I was given some resources and tools for WS, and it seemed a good fit with smuggler to slice what I make. I must say though, reading the trade forums on my server, and reading the bidding prices for alot of the looted schemes and components has me discouraged. I just can't afford to bid multi millions on tissues or schematics. As such I feel I'm doomed to mediocrity, and therefore bankruptcy, since everyone wants super duper big bang guns from 12pt force sensitive WS using +gazillion tissues.

I don't want to be ultra rich, I just want make enough to make the prof feel worthwhile. No factories, No mega-malls, just craft, slice, sell. Is this a pipe dream in this late stage of SWG?

Eh, it's not that bad, really. It takes a while to build up a well-stocked vendor, but once you're there, maintaining it is pretty easy. I do about 45 million a month in vendor sales and I probably do only 20-30 runs of factory produced weapons a month (and most of those are grenades).

A friend and myself have just finished grinding to MWS, but being a former crafter I know it's going to take months to be even remotely close to steadily producing quality products. The amount and variety of hq resources needed is pretty intimidating. Hats off to the long-time smiths.
