Thread: Please SOMEONE specialize in VK's

I've had customers swear at me up one side and down the other that you can make VKs under 2.0 speed pre-slice, but I'm just not seeing it. My numbers compare to all those here. VKs will not max out over 200 without a vibro motor enhancer and a damage slice.

Period.

hmm If memory serves correct the class3 petro is a free resource meaning you just need it, stats are irrelivant since i think it lacked both stats that affect the results. I could be wrong on this, I am at work and unable to double check. But I remember at one time checking the stats against the schematic and realizing that the quality aparently didnt matter. I could be thinking of a different resource on a different schematic but for some reason i feel like it is this one.

With a30% or betterslice a 200+ damage ispossible without the advanced vibro unit if you use a high powered vibro motor.I made a pair for my alt on Ahazi that were 156 damage, 2.1 speed; sliced to 207 damage, 2.1 speed; 236 damage, 2.1 speed with powerup.

You can with normal Vibro Blade units, they come out faster than the advanced ones, I've done 1.8/1.9 VKs that way.

The best I can get on Naritus using Advanced Vibro Blade Units and some Steell that is 992 UT is a 37-146, 2.2 Spd Model. I am not sure how good Vibro Motor Enhancements can get but you would definitely need a +60 model to get up over 200.

The poster ask for weaponsmith to specialize, and even though some WS are smugglers as well slicing isnt our skill, so 200 is *not* possible, we weaponsmith can experiment and make schematic to produce an item in factory with guaranteed stats on dmg and speed, now tell me can a smuggler assure you what % he/she will slice for ? no, he/she cannot even assure he will slice on dmg, so please dont take the slice into consideration cause slice = smuggler forum, not this one kthxbye

As a weaponsmith I find that one of the most annoying things...people criticise your weapons because they don't have stats to match a sliced weapon...then they say 'wots spliceing?'.

*Doh*

No. It is true. You can make Vibro's that are 50-200 2.0 Speed. (No slice) I have seen a pair, but I was broken when I saw them. =(

if u didnt have them in your possession then u cant know it wasnt sliced, and since dmg and speed go together in experimentation and with components if such a VKS was possible it would certainly have a speed like 1.7 or 1.6 even, so imo it was a sliced VKS

*laugh* It's pretty sad how little people know about crafting sometimes. Yesterday I get a mail from a guy asking me "hi can u make me a Advanced Laser Carbine Mk. 2?"

I read it twice just to check I'm not hallucinating and reply "What would that be exactly? In fact, what is a Mk. 1?"

Email bounce as follows :

"obviously u cannot help me bye"

"Well if that's the name of your current weapon and it's a Laser Carbine, that's just the name of the gun whoever created it stuck on it at creation. I could make a combat staff and call it 'Pool Cue' but it won't make it one. If you're after a laser carbine, I sell them at my store, stats of 40-270/3.6."

"no I need one like the one in my backpack now 47-342 speed 3.8 unsliced and unpowered"

".... Well the stats don't suggest Krayt usage as the speed isn't proportionately better as with the damage, plus they don't affect the minimum damage. It looks sliced to me."

"its not sliced ur just not good"

Fine. Good luck to you, really, go find a base laser weapon like that. Unless I am mistaken it's impossible to get a stat like that, even with krayt tissues ... sheesh.

I know your pain, (to the guy above me), I hate this. Sometimes i wish people would come to the weaponsmith boards and do some studying because they jsut dont know. I sometimes have to go through an hour of explanation jsut to get someone to understand what the heck im saying, wether i sell a gun is irrelevant. I do this to try and prevent this in the future and getting the truth to spread. Ive had a number of people do the mine is better than yours so i dont need it. Then i have to explain to them if they slice and power up my gun it will be better than what they have. Then, i get the...whats slicing or a power up.....god i hate this proffesion sometimes...actully no i really like it but i wish people would read more.

Arcanus Shelvay, a once proud Weaponsmtih who gave it up due to the loot based weapons....IM A CRAFTER NOT A FIGHTER!
Well, now im a Fighter...i gave up crafting due to the sillyness.

I think one of the important lessons here is not to let the customer dictate your weapon stats to you. Just make the best weapons you can with the resources available, and if your customers like them they can buy them.

This is why we've been begging the devs to tag weapons somehow so people can tell that they've been sliced.

Hopefully this coming, as it is a cause of grief for both customers (who think they've purchased an unsliced weapon, only to learn otherwise) and smiths (for reasons detailed above).
