Thread: How long did the grind take YOU?

I think I have everyone beat so far. I started with an eye towards weaponsmith when the game came out -- so, however many months that has been. I just obtained Master Weaponsmith on Saturday (yay, no more grinding). Why so long? Well, a number of reasons: helping friends out, never upgrading from personal harvesters to get my grinding material, buying grinding resources when they came up on the bazaar (if they were good weaponsmith materials, they got stored instead of becoming grinding material), and most of all grinding is my least favorite activity (plus some have accused me of spending too much time socializing in the game).

But, hey, I am still in the game and have a nice cache of good weapons grade materials now. Unfortunately, a bunch of the early people I played with are now gone. *toast* Here's hoping to keeping enough interest in the game to be around for a while longer.

In the beginning, you got full xp from the factory if you stood near it. A few people, although they probably won't admit it, dropped 4-5 factories, filled them with 1000 count schematics of some 50 xp barrel (I forget which now) and then stood in the middle either grinding or sampling. If you had the resources, could be done in a couple days.

Now, only psycho power grinders with a good macro can do it in a few days but they're nuts.

When I got serious about it, and after getting our Master Architect done and the PA Hall up, I'd say it took me a month and a half.

This time bridged between the 'no practice' and the 'practice' times. We didn't figure out that you could macro practice until I was 4-3-4-4 *cry*

I gave up Combat Medic on the Sunday (8 days ago) and had ground the entire way to Master Weaponsmith by the following Saturday, including a day down for the patch and another day spent doing Act 2.

Ran missions and resource runs while i ground out the xp to kill the boredom. I was fairly loaded to start with so financed the whole thing myself.

2 wks with a 3 day break to study for a advanced Fin Mngt test no macros aside from the sample macro which i dont use anymore cause why bother with 10 heavies and access to 20 more lots with the meds sitting in my house for them if i need. It did REALY help that i had been a Master Architect for a while and had stuff stored up for that to fill orders while mining steel to grind. The main reason i picked up weapons and droped architect is that it is sooo much easier after hitting master. where i would go through 300k resource in a day or 2 as a architect if i mine 200k of a resource theres very little chace ill ever run out before a better one comes along.
