I really like how everyone is hung up on dps. That stat is the most over rated thing to ever be associated with weapons. Sure you can skew your dps high with speed but what does it matter. With warm ups and cool downs no one comes close to one attack per second. I'm more impressed with the overall combo of a weapon ie. high damage, high accuracy and low attack cost. A weapon is uselss if you miss 50% of the time and can only fire off 5 specials before you run out of action.
Are most people even aware that accuracy increase damage, not only by hitting more often, but your accuracy is compared to targets defences to determine what damage you do.
Because people pay 6 million credits for extremely high DPS weapons... it's the stat that they look at first when browsing thousands of weapons on the Bazaar search. I sold a 343 DPS scatter for 1.1 mill, but have had one with much higher damage and lower SAC cost sitting on my vendor for a long time with no takers.
Pure and simple, DPS sells.
My favorite and latest weapon is a 298.99 DPS / 68 SAC Scatter pistol
.
You can get much higher DPS on the weapons, with this one in particular I'm sure I could have broken some barriers here if I went all out DPS
. but as I was making it for personal use I made it for what works best, not what sells best lol, oddly enough those are two different things. Most high end PvPers who know what they are doing will request low SAC weapons, but most standard customers request purely DPS and to hell with SAC. You can get them made on both ends, it jsut depends on what type of pistol your looking for.
