Thread: Thelife of a WS, and cost recovery...
There are seveal things that can help improve the chance of success when crafting the weapon:
1) Be a master WS.
2) Live in a city that has an assembly bonus
3)Make your char amon-calamari, they get +10 to weapon assembly
4) Buy assembly tape-- it's a lot cheaper than experiementation tape !!!
5)Eat food, there is pollian cake, and vespin port (I've spelt these wrong I'm sure)
With the above5 things, I seem to get"great" success about 90% of the time. I have +30 weaponsmith assembly tape. I'm not sure if the mon-calamari bonus is in addition tothe tape, some people say it's maxed at +125 (mine reads +140). So maybe you just need +25 assembly tape and race doesn't matter.
The food makes a noticable difference. The problem with the food though is you get full, so sometimes you have to wait around a while -- and some customers are impatient about that. I always eat both food and drink before crafting anything that I absolutely want to turn out right.
I don't think there will be another MMO with a crafting system as good for a long time

if you don't like failing, supposedly WoW is going to have no failures... although I don't think it's going to have the absurdly complicated SWG crafting system with resource shifts, resources with 2 to 6 stats

From the screenshots I've seen, WOW crafting looks like it's going to be UO/Horizons style where you click on rocks and trees all day and then go churn out the same items that everyone else is making because there's no stats on resources.

I am

I live in a MFG center, for the bonus

Too late...

Can never find any of these, or they are horribly expensive.

I do.
The problem is with the entire 'crit failure' system. What idiot thought that failures were more fun than successes.
If I made the system I would have NO failures. I would limit the number of great and amazing successes instead. That way you, and I could make our nominal level of goods all the time, and once in a while we would get that rare amazing, or two and viola! a rare awesome weapon/armor, whatever, and we are ECSTATIC, rather than being pissed off every time the dice rolls wrong.
I understand that Jedi don't lose their pearls and crystals now when they get a crit fail. It would be nice if all the crafting professions could be set up so that special enhancers aren't lost on a critical fail. Doubt that will ever happen for us, though.
