Thread: 12-points not a requirement

As a new weaponsmith, this discussion has me worried...

I'm currently 0-1-0-3, and i'm working my way up quicker than I though.

I'm not the richest person on my server. Far from it. So I doubt I'll be able to afford or find those precious skill tapes that will help me become a 12pt crafter.

I'm a weaponsmith because I like the crafting. The real joy is giving really high-quality weapons to my close close friends (for free). I'm not a member of a guild or anything like that. I have maybe 4 or 5 really close friends that I'd like to craft weapons for.

The real concern is for them. I want them to have the best they can, even though I don't charge them. But, will they be coming up short if i'm nota 12pt crafter?!?!?!

I don't want them to look at another weaponsmith's product and say "hey, Ario's my friend and all, but her weapons don't even COMPARE to this 12pointer over here. Guess it's worth the money to buy from him instead."

I don't have a customer base, and I prolly won't. But I'd like to know that the weapons I have will be appreciated.

So... the question I have is....

"is it going to seriously affect my ability to craft decent weapons if i don't have 12 points?"

you know... Just worried.

(in this day and age in SWG, if it's not "uber", it's usually not worth anyone's time. I'm hoping that I can still keep up, if anyone understands.

the extra 2 can help you recover from a bad experiment. but resources are everything, you can get the full damage bar. a 12 point DE i think is the most worthless you can have, chef is one that you should have 12 points.

Awesome post. I hit Master Weaponsmith on my alt a few weeks ago. I've felt trepidations about being able to compete. This post lays to rest all my fears. I'm now quite excited about collecting resources (which is fun for me, I like to wheel-n-deal) and getting some weapons out and credits in.

I was a +10 smith for a long time... at the time when Pub 7 can out I was a +11 smith and the gulf beween a +12 and +11 was so obvious that it hurt.. I had to get the +12 to compete.

The +12 really allows me to make 1100+ condition weapons.. which is quite critical when the weapon is a Krayt, Gorax, Acklay or other enhance weapon.

Can't tell you how many times the +12 has saved me from a moderate combine. I waste less resources trying to get that "perfect" schema.

No +12 is not Necessary to stay competitive.. but it sure does send a lot of business my way.

yes. every little bit helps. Resources is really what matters. but when u got a uber weapon. it is always better to use those 2 points on condition i get about an extra 200 on condition. which is good when i make custom orders. The customers pays sometimes millions for enhanced weapons. Why shouldnt they get the extra condition to make there weapon last longer?.

on my server those 2 points are the difference between being known and unknown.

just as people don't go to smugglers who aren't masters for slicing, people with loot on sunrunner don't go looking for "just" a master weaponsmith. they want a 12 pointer.
