Thread: Don't Judge a WS by the money in his/her bank

I have seen lots of posts asking how to make lots of money, which profession makes the most money.....Well I am here to tell you that money is not really that important to a crafter (or any RL person with lots of wealth). Many WS dont have a ton of money in the bank but have invested it in things such as resources, ships, vehicles, rare items, etc.

Take me for example. I have been a WS for over 2 years. I have 6.8 mil in the back. After 2 years you'd thing I would have lots more right?

Well I do have more. I am a 12pt smith, have several factories full of extreamly high quality resources, an AV-21,a Firesprey, a whole guild hall full of so much stuff I cant name it all here (check it out in mos rome ) . My point is that people, dont ask us who has the most money because it is probibly some combat profession. We have all invested our money in our business and thats the way it probibly always will be.

(Note: Some WS truly are so wealthy they do have millions and millions of credits everywhere....but where do you think the majority of their wealth is)

Even if you are rich, there is a certain point at which making any more is kinda pointless also. If it was all about money I'd have quit WS a long time ago.

The only time weaponsmith was a huge money-maker for me was during the grenade-grinding craze before the CU. Most of my net worth is in my resources and loot enhancers, and a few nice rare items (oh, and my 12-point suit, of course).

In terms of pure cashflow, AS has been much better than WS, if not as interesting.

In the end its not about credits either, which is why I enjoy custom orders much more than just putting stuff on my vendors. (sure theres a few bad experiences, but I have been very lucky with most of my costumers )

Custom orders generally pays less than what you can earn by selling Enhanced weaponry off your vendors, but the Thing I am Enjoying the most about WSing atm is the interaction with other players, when we together find out how we can built a weapon that suits the clients playstyle the very best.

I enjoy giving advice, both to Upcoming WS and to Costumers about weapons and weapon crafting and I truly enjoy a challenge, which is why I especially love taking on special orders (melee or the odd ranged requests that are not ALR, Elite, Trando, Scatter, Featheror HLR).

Hmm this got sidetracked I guess. What I wanted to say is that I agree with the OP I have a LOT of credits tied up in enhancers, resources, schematics and premade weaponry.

In the end though I dont think you should judge a WS on his/her material possesions at all (be it credits or resources or something third.) You should judge a WS on her/his passion for the profession, as those really loving the crafting are those that will take chances on experimentation just to find out how it will turn out and those are the ones to carry our profession forward. Those people are veterans and new smiths alike and those to me are the true masters

(okay Im going to bed now Im getting all serious here)

I would also consider myself to be on the 'poor' side i currently have between 25-40mil max but i have lots in capital (3BARCs, 4Av-21s, millions of resources, 12pt suit, 8 rugs and lots of nice rare deco etc) at the minute i have nothing to spend my money which is why i have 'so much' in the bank. Spent most of my Pre Cu days with around 5mil but got lucky and sold a T-21 for 10mil just before the CU This games not all about money, i have my characters the way they are and i like it. I have more than enough money to play happily.

Once you acquire everything you personally want in this game.. you can start banking lots of credits... things eventually plateau.

Glad others feel the way I do. Just have seen alot of posts in our forum asking how to make money and whats the fastest way to make money....They are almost like fake weaponsmiths...they don't care about our profession just the wealth.

The really rice people are the chefs and the pre-cu/cu top armorsmiths and maybe one of the really old smiths that sells tons of stuff each day.

I have 2 mil in my bank now and 1mil on my alt.

However i do 4 houses and 2 banks loaded with resources. I have a large house that's loaded with loot and rare items(still need to put tons of stuff in thats in bags hehe to busy right now)

The best way to judge a smith is by his skill in crafting weapons. And yes having the best resources are a part of your skill

Mini r2s are great I encourage you all to buy your galaxy's supply of them and make huge armies. Then try and work out a good system where you can play chess using miniatures.
