Thread: sr combat pistol...

Okay, I am really not a fan of the look on the republic blaster. However, I enjoy the armor piercing.

I have a good Dx2 with the new improved range mods, but would like an energy dmg pistol option with AP that doesn't look like a chrome tube of toothpaste.

Has anyone gotten great results in krayt tissue sr combat pistols? I like the look of this pistol, kind of a mini smg look. Has AP Looks like it could be a winner.

If anyone has made any krayt sr combat pistols and has a ss or stats handy, please post.

Also, how many tissues should I be searching for and which additional components should I look for to hand to my favorite ws for construction?

Thanks for any info and input.

SR combat is the lost gun of the pistol tree.

Its range mods suck, along with it's speed cap.

For krayting (a waste IMO) you'll need at least 3 tissues; 1 for factory schematic and 2 for actual gun made from the factory made handlers. You could add a themepark reward blater pistol barrel (again a waste IMO) for some added wound, accuracy mods.

This gun may look cool but it'll get you killed. Personally I like the look of the RB and I like it's 0 @ 64m range modifier too, since I am more accurate than a rifleman at max range.

My best SR Combat (last time I bothered to make one) was 102-156 3.2 using adv components which is simply ridiculous when you compare it to the Republic which uses the same metals/components. A Rep Blaster using the same ingredients came out at 67-203 2.6.

To deal with mitigation in PvP I'd stick to the DX2 for it's superior minimum dmg, and if that's not hurting them equip a tangle and hope they're not wearing stun layered armour.

Iprefer the sound and look of aGorax Striker. The SR Combat can be made formidable, tho. But nothing is as good as a bugged weapon, now is it, WerrtZer? Use RB's at your own risk!

Bugged? Sure the cert is bugged and that needs fixing badly, and no doubt the range mods are not "working as intended" either, but if you want to get technical neither is the flamethrower. They can do what they like now, but there are millions of these weapons on the live servers so a fix to the range mods will only serve to create another pre nerf gun that everyone wants.

Please describe for me how you would make the SR combat formidable without the inclusion of some expensive tissues, while at the same time attempting to offset its awful range modifiers and HAM costs. Seriously I'd like to know...

The SR Combat sucks because it's 48m max range. DX2 and RB are both better.

It can be made formidable, but I refuse to spell it out here for WerrtZer the bug propagator.

Thnx for not calling me a troll, I'd sooner be a dumby today.

You must agree, though, the SR combatis formidable, its more formidable than anything w/o AP1.

WerrtZer is a bug propagator as is anyone whointroduces, obviously broken and disbalancing items into the realm.(ignore my modified RPs on the sunrunner bazaar) they were not my doing.

Jesus I been called a lot of things in my time but that's great. You stick with your SR combat while the rest of the universe is using rep blasters to their full (and obviously intended) effect.

Go ahead, I am just pointing out that you are distributing items that are disbalancing. You even endorsed the use of the RB earlier.. its wrong, your wrong, the Devs are wrong. But nobody listens to me, I'm a troll.

If this were so, why did Ind hand me one with different range mods on the Valarian quests? Thunderhearts and Logix, left hand doesn't know what their right hand is doing!

Hey, but Carbine is getting revamped. Wonder how many Carbine/Droid Engineers there will be this month?

I hate feeding the trolls but just to prove you wrong on the SR thing, I went and made one.

It turned out as bad as ever. All great successes. All adv components.

83-161 3.1

17/48/26 HAM

+2 @ pb

-10 @ 8m

-80 @ 48m

Seriously tell me why I would could or should recommend this gun over the RB. You say I propagate bugs. I say I produce what the customer wants within the laws of the game.

No doubt this gun has issues. Do I therefore immeadiately cease production and instead offer the SR as a viable alternative? Yes I think I'll turn away my customers and my own needs in favour of a gun that really IS bugged. I mean 48m max is bad enough on the Tangle but on an AP1 energy weapon it is simply astounding, and the addition of a -80 penalty is adding insult to injury.

RB is on every server in it's 100,000's and any nerf/fix that may be coming will never get rid of them all (at least uncrated ones ).

The cert needs fixing: everyone agrees on that, but whyhas the rebel modded version of this (a new gun basically) not had it's range mods "fixed" if indeed they are an unintentional error?

You go back to selling your lame SR combat. If you can find buyers for them your customers obviously are very devoted to playing by your unwritten rules on what is kosher and what is not, insofar as weapons go...

Who really cares if its 48 or 64m?If your firing a pistoloutside 20m your a fool. +2 is better than the -40 of the RB@ pb. I'd buy that for 5-6k, maybe more for a damage slice. Speed is negligable up to 4.5 for a master pistoleer.

What you have here is a gun with a positive pb mod all things considered vs one with a 0 or -40 pb mod. I believe the -40 is the mod on the RB, but I haven't tested it after the patch. The RB has a broken max range of 0, when it should be -70...

SR is better for perfroming the pistoleer specials.

Positive point blank mod?

You say in another thread you PvP a lot. You lie.

If you PvPed you'd know that getting within 6m let alone 0m of any brawler/TKM/swordsman/fencer will get you killed faster than your lameass gun can shoot. If you PvPed you'd know that the RB is (whether intentional or not) a long range weapon. At closer ranges switch to a DX2 especially since range buff made em better.

It occurs to me that you're another bloody rifleman that is pi$$ed that pistoleers have a weapon at their disposal that is more accurate at 64m than any rifle craftable. Thats the real issue here.

To the original poster: if you're still reading this steer clear of the SR or die. Simple as that. It may look like a turkey baster or be game breaking as our troll here wouldlike us to think, but at the end of the day it gets the job done.

One last thing Payingcustomer (how ironic is that handle?) : if you knew you're guns as well as you claim you'd know that no smith in their right mind makes one of these "unbalancing weapons" without adding a scope which drives it down to -25 at PB/ideal. No amount of scopes or range experiments can make the SR combat any better and in fact just makes it a whole helluva lot worse.
