Thread: Skevon Gas...and the lack there of.

I am getting through fairly well in Weaponsmith and I am starting to have a new admiration for those who have reached Master in this profession. Not because of the actual crafting of weapons itself, but the exhausting and somewhat ridiculous resource finding. For the past week I have started every morning by going to each and every planet, starting at my home in Talus, and pulling up my gas survey device to see if Skevon Gas is available on the said planet. I don't have to tell anybody here how much money I've wasted going from planet to plant looking for this single, seemingly impossible to obtain, resource to complete my training.


I did however find somebody on this board kind enough to sell me 6k of it, which is vastly short of the amount I acutally need. Even the people in my guild are going throughout their daily routines on various planets attempting to locate this diamond in the ruff to no fruition. This is becoming very absurd and I am beginning to get burnt out simply because of the way the game is setup to purposely make you waste your hard earned credits.


I have taken the advice of others and started using the SWGCraft.com website to see if the item was located and verified - and I believe that the idea is grande, however a failure. For instance: I went to Dantooine yesterday and ran missions for hours with fellow guildies, whenever possible I would whip out the gas-survey device and find...well, nothing. Then I go onto SWGCraft.com today and search for the Skevon, and what do I find? That somebody reported it as available -22hrs ago. Odd? Yes. Did I jump on two shuttles and rush over with my medium chemical harvestor? Yes. Did I find it there once I wasted money and arrived? Absolutely not.


I would love to know HOW this system of populating "rare" resources works, the timing, system, amounts, limits on how long its there, etc. Because as far as I can tell, there are a bunch of devs sitting back hittin the hookah, gorging on Fun-ions, and enjoying the ants weave their way through a fruitless search of intangible items.


Any feedback on my questions/rant would be appreciated.

when i was working my way up to Weaponmaster, there was very little of any precious resource avialabe


now at the current spawn, it seems that everything is around (from skevon to ryll to cisim)


am sure that the next wek waves will be rather crapped out..



*shrug*



think there is as much a pattern here as with the holo grinding system

Well.. according to swgcraft.com, Skevon WAS available on Bloodfin.. last week, unless someone faked it.

I take it you went to the 'find resources' link and looked at the Avail column? -22 means it was marked UNavailable 22hrs ago. +22 means it was marked available 22 hrs ago. Sounds like you just missed it. Looked around on resource vendors, or post on your galaxy trade board. Someone else is bound to have a good amount if it really did just spawn there.


Oh, and next time, you want a gas harvester, not chemical.

Good Luck finding it, I missed the spawn of it on radiany and have been trying to buy a large amount of it for a week, the largest volume I saw for sale was 200 units, well short of my 150k goal. Oh well will keep looking

Ah how this quest for skevon and thoranium and hydron3makes me reminisce of my grind to master.... Did it the old way (back in the old days)with just a ton of steel and other metals...Projectile rifle barrels while running around running faction missions... We did it that way so we didn't HAVE to wait on rare spawns... Sure it took more time and what not but we were still developing our techniques on macros and what was the best for usto grind...For me at least there was more sense of achievment when I gained a skill box than if i had done the profession in hours with these heavy warheads...


Afriend decided to take up weaponsmith and has waited and waited for these resources to spawn... In that time I mastered 3 other professions between my main and alts (usingconventional methods)... I overhear all the holo-grinders complain about crafting professions and how boring they are... I enjoy the resource hunt and the time spent not spamming specials at pikets... Maybe its just me... Maybe that is the reason that people i've gotten to know as my chr have always helped out with projects... Maybe that is why i'm still a smith and have never entertained the notion of leaving weaponsmithing except for the one time... All said friends made good effort to keep me as a smith needless to say...Theyare heavily entertaining the prospects of my venture into armorsmithing...


I understand that each profession is not for everyone but truelyI will be glad when the holo-grinding days are gone and people once again take pride in their chosen professions... Once again you will see people beating their respective brains in inthe backstreets of your local town...

I mastered WS about 2 weeks ago and really lucked out skevon spawned for the next two weeks, and yeah it looks like it just left on bloodfin, check the bazaar someone else I know was mastering and ran out of skevon and i was able to find 6k on it on the bazaar.

I found some on Sunrunner yesterday. My harvestor is working its ass off now. Should have bout 15k by now. Woohoo!

Don't waste your time looking for that crap. It rarely spawns, and no one mines it because it's only used for the useless heavy warhead mechanism and the rarely-used acid protection layer for armor. With all the time, money, and effort you put into looking for resources for a useless grind item, you could have macroed proj rifle barrels to master several times over.

No kidding. That week you spent looking for Skevon could've been spent grinding barrels and you'd be master by now.

Except that during the week I spent looking for skevon, I was grinding out medium warheads for MWS.


Some people just have to flame.....

Just be patient, you'll eventually get it.


You will get it when you are calm and at peace. A weaponsmith only uses Skevon Gas for Knowldge and defence, never for agression
