I enjoy it, I've been a master for about 2-3 months now, and there's still things I haven't tried out yet

Actually making a large (about 700 XG's) run of mines right now, to stock my own defence perimeter... "sure I'll let the imps buy from me, assuming they can get past the front door"

It is alotwork, but itcan be veryfulfilling. After a few months of collecting resources, you can make many weapons at competative stats (some, such as the t21, may take longer to make). Try to get a group of friends to help you mine resources and survey around.

I don't enjoy it much, but that's because I'm not a master and anyone who isn't a master isn't really weaponsmithing -- they're grinding. I don't particularly enjoy grinding, but I'm hoping that once I get to a decent level (IE: Tech IV) I can stop grinding quite as much and start actually practicing my craft to advance and make a little money.

I find customers can make or break your day. Good customers are real gems and can make you stand taller, feeling all the effort you put in has paid off.

Then on the flipside, you get barstool customers, and you'll eventually just have to thicken your skin. Example, just last night a customer of mine who I have dealt with in the past and seemed like a decent enough fellow, asks me if I could custom make him a VK with a looted high frequency vibro motor. I'm on Corellia and my workshop's on Tatooine, but I agree to go back and make it. He asks me what the stats would be roughly, and I take a guess based on the stats (and I make it clear it was 'at a guess').

Anyway I get back, and go about putting it together. I got one of those accursed moderates on experimentation, but the rest were greats ... however the result was the VK was 4 less damage than I had guessed. I hand it over - assuming he'd bank tip me or something. He just swears at me for it being 4 less damage than what I had guessed, backhanded me in the face and left without paying a single credit. I would have only charged him what I sell my VKs factory made and ready stocked anyway - he seems to think that he worked so hard at getting a VK motor enhancement that I was at his beck and call to turn it into something.

Anyway there's my brief rant, I felt pretty annoyed, but it's always the nice folks who drop you a line thanking you, or people seeing you as you walk by and say "Hi, I bought a really nice gun/sword from you the other day, you do great work!" etc etc.

I, too, am not yet a master. Happily, I can tell you that yes - after reaching Tech IV, you will be able to make some money, and actually feel like you're making weapons for people instead of just making enough rifle barrels tofully load-upand close down a landfill. Obtaining Tech IV, you will have enough skill to make decent, respectable (if not masterful)weapons.

You will still get about 70% of your requests for weapons that are master-level only, but people who want the weapons you can make will eventually find you.

I like the crafting system, and I like makingitems that *do* something. I get tired of the resource-hunt, sometimes, but I also enjoy it as a kind of sleuthing-puzzle.

It is completely true that WS can feel like a real job. But I find it fun, when I get the weapons made.

Love WS!

Hate resourcing without SWGcraft.com ! (with it I can do teh resourcing thing without I do not have enough time to wander around 10 planets to find resources that I might need, also can't afford buy my resources yet either).

Hate grinding with a passion (also can no longer bring myself to grind Master artisan and I only need 6k xp ROFL)!

Hate having to be a merchantbut there are no other reliable ways to sell my weapons! (middlemen etc don't work which forces the crafter to take merchant as well )!

Hi, I just hit my prerequisites for novice weaponsmith and before I train into your profession, I would like to know quite simply if you enjoy it or not. Obviously no one is going to enjoy grinding rifle barrels, but once the grinding is through do you enjoy selling weapons to customers and the crafting system?

Thanks,

I like it but of course if I didn't I would have dropped it along time ago. Its fun when your sales pick up but the best part is when you get tells from your customers telling you who or what they blew up and how great the weapon is. Truly that is the best part and makes up for the constant tells and endless search for the best resources worth it.

And the money isn't bad....

Just be ready for questions like:

1. "Can you send me a tell with all your weapons, their stats, and prices? K, thxs"

2. "Thanks for the stats? Can you do better?"

3. " I need a gun." what kind of gun do you need? "the best you have"

4. "Seriously, can you do better on the damage? I will pay very well" (my personal favorite)

Honestly, it really depends on you and what is fun for you. Weaponsmith can really feel like a real job sometimes. Anyway, time to go load the factory.....

I do enjoy it...I've been a master smith for about 2 months now. Let me be clear though - I enjoy making the weapons and the "thrill of the hunt" involved in chasing the perfect rhodium steel deposit I do not enjoy the constant /tells "can you make such and such.." "can you beat this" It's actually gotten quite tiring.

Im a new master master weapons smith and I enjoy it when I manage to ged my goods up to par and sometimes point or two above the products of the other weaponsmiths. Currently I dont get much profit as most goes straight to materials and harvesters but im hoping that will change soon. Im located next to a fairly popular armorsmith and with any luck one or two of the customers will start to peek in my vendors as well.

Becoming a “Known” Weapon Smith takes time. And I have to say having a knack for mining and mineral searching pays off as well.

One of the best traits I enjoy about being a pure crafter is every type of mineral can change a weapon for the better or worse. Take your time.
