Thread: Generic steel, why isn't the best the best?
Hmm it would apear that the 50%CD/50%OQ is more like 100%OQ. Prob not how it was intended, but yet another bug that we'll have to deal with. Which weapon were you making?

The schematic asks for a generic steel for making the gun(50%CD/50%OQ) I tried a quadranium steel 534CD/999OQ=99.44%, and a duralloy steel 644CD/931OQ=96.09%. Why is the duralloy steel better?

Yeah... I'm still in a state of denial at having ground through 30k or so of Erco back when it first spawned... ![]()

Put it in another piece of clothing, all the mods will stick so you need something with 3 sockets. each mod takes up one socket.
So, they fixed that old bug with only the first mod sticking when there were multiple enhancements on one tape?

It has been a little tricky with these new resource weighting systems. I haven't checked it out much since they tweaked it again, but when resources were rated on the (stat-min)/(max-min) formula, I noticed something funny with the JTL resources. On Tempest, shortly after JTL we had a spawn a Crystalized Bicorbantium Steel (hereafter called CBS) called Esak with a CD of 988 and an OQ of 808, which made wonderful DL44 Metal blasters, among other things. With the first change, if a schem called for "steel," the (green) bar was actually a touch higher with a duralloy called Eihen (642 CD, 839 OQ). However, if a schem called for "ferrous metal," the CBS was actually a notch better than the Duralloy.
Withthe firstchange, my Phrik (Ikewite) sucked, so I found a better one (but I had one of the best ones!) and (sleepy at the time) put my old stock up for sale. With the new change, it had sold before I had logged back in, so I can only assume it is the better one again. I've been so disgusted since (I've been beta'd in a live game! C'mon devs, get it together! Oh wait, not the dev's fault they were rushed! So who gets hung for this debacle?) that I really haven't been crafting after the new change to see how the 2 steels compare now.
