Ok i'm lazy didn't want to search the thousands of posts for this answer.

Why can't a master weaponsmith repair an item with anymore of a success rate than a none weaponsmith?

If i'm mistaken please let me know....but I have 0 on weapon repair as I'm sure the rest of the ppl have too.

If you are a master weaponsmith you should have skill points into weapon repair.

with my weaponsmith and with my primary i havent noticed that much of a difference with repairing weapons

i have a bunch of 100% repair tools for armor and weapons

as long as i keep the weapon and armor above 60%-70% it is always a successful repair

I'm a master smith and the only bonuses i have on my skill tree are the +9 to reapir i have in tapes,as far as i can tell there is no bonus to repair for a smith.

I am pretty sure its already been stated that the repair part is a broken mod atm. Not sure of a post stating this I remember seeing a pretty "official" looking one.

Weapon repair skilltapes (or any sort of repair skilltape for that matter) apparently don't work. A Weaponsmith will (allegedly) get some small bonus over a non-weaponsmith when repairing weapons - it's a hidden bonus, and it's aquired at Novice, not at Master (e.g. a Novice Weaponsmith is just as good at repairing as a Master).

This is what I've gathered after doing some searching on the topic on both this forum and on swgcraft, but none of it is from the horses mouth so it might not be 100% correct.

Wow you must go through armor fast...I let everything, weapon and armor fall to at least 30% quality before I consider a repair. Generally I let it even go lower. I haven't done the thousands of tests necessary to find a pattern, but others have and it does seem that master WS's have a slightly better chance. You'd have to look back to the specifics for whether he was using tapes, but generally WS's are going to have a few repair tapes on. I always suggest to customers to have me or another smith repair their guns. If any thing you're right there to offer them a new gun when it breaks \

As a MWS with a couple bonus points in Weapon Repair, I still get failures. Between my main and my MWS, statistically I feel they repair about the same. And I generally try to repair a weapon before it gets under 50% condition.

I have repaired probably 500 weapons or so since the infamous "repair nerf".

Waaay back when WS would get a Minor Blemish about 90% of the time, so a 1000 condition weapon ended up being 950. Now you are about 75% guranteed to reduce that % to 800 or less whether you are a WS or not. I have seen that the critical failures (falls apart) seem noticably higher without WS skills. Here are my recommendations.

Normal weapons--- 50-100k or less price paid..
Let them go until you see the max dmg change (if it was 500max it will start to decrease, 499 and lower until the weapon breaks)
Usually this is around 200 condition, if you want to be safer, repair at 300.

Enhanced Weapon -- Krayt, Acklay etc.
Bring to a WS to have repaird @ or around 300 condition

-edit-
typos

If you repair any sooner you are robbing yourself of thousands of swings/shots. I have seen probably less than 20 minor blemishes since that crafting nerf.

As for armor I have a 90% chest that is now at 5000max condition. I run it down to about 75% protection then repair it myself. I have repaired it approx 5-6 times already and will continue to due so until it either breaks to 1/1 or falls apart on repair.

in my humble opinion as a MWS, i find it BETTER to repair at 250/750 at or below 25%, it seems to repair a lot better that way,
