They are looking at limiting vendors to merely 150 items. Visit this thread in the In Development section to complain.

There are what, about 60 weapons or so that are weaponsmith items (not counting artisan)? Wow you can stock not even 3 of each, and less if you sell repair kits, WUKS, and powerups. I know not everyone will stock all 60 types, but think if you only try to keep 10 items of a weapon on a vendor? 15 types of weapons will seriously cramp business. I'm sure architechs will run into the same thing with furniture. Maybe the devs think we didn't want to do anything else besides filling vendors? I'm curious to see if this will drive prices up.

I think part of their goal with this is to make the +vendor mods in the merchant class more useful/required. You'd have only 150 items if all you had was artisan merchant line, but with the merchant profession as well you could have 5 (or is it 6?) vendors each holding 150 items for you.

I'm classifying it as "we need to take another 14 skill points from the crafters" idea, not a general nerf

This still doesn't help even if you do have the Merchant line. I have 3044 Merchant right now and in my PA's Vendor Mall on Corellia I currently have the following vendors:

  • Melee Weapons

  • Ranged Weapons

  • Heavy Weapons

  • Harvesters and Houses

On top of that I have a 5th vendor in my house on Dantooine that my suppliers use for dropoff or I put special orders on for people to pick up.

That being said, my Melee Vendor is very popular and I can run thru 50 Vibro Knucks, 50 Curved Swords and 50 2H Curved Swords in a week easily not to mention that I have to keep stocked on all the other Melee weapons as I can sell 10-15 of those each a week. The Ranged weapons vendor is even busier and has a wider array of items. I would say at any given time I have 300-400 items on my Ranged Vendor, 200+ on my Melee Vendor, 100+ on my Heavy Weapons Vendor and 50-100 on my Houses / Harvesters vendor.

The way I look at it, this is going to mean that we have to restock our vendors on a daily basis (which might be easy if we keep them in our house but for those of use that have vendors on other planets or in PA specific structures that is just too much of a chore).I am not sure what they are trying to do with this one but I was just starting to enjoy Weaponsmithing because I can stock my vendor once each weekend and then spend the week running anything I am low on. That way I have more time to enjoy the game and it's less of a chore to do this. If I have to go from my Dantooine house to stock my Coronet vendors every night it's going to drive me crazy and I just might stop making weapons for a bit.

To sum it all up, I think this would be a huge mistake on the Devs part.

The only thing that I can think of that makes any sense is the devs want to do this to prop up the poor database. Rather than fix it they take a huge bite out of the only place that has lots of items...vendors. The excuse we are given somes very weak to be and definately doesn't support a space change this drastic.

This would be a huge mistake if it is done. Now we get to see if the devs will listen to us....

I dont get who they can even come up with an idea of "preventing monoplies" I understand the technical issues but here is my beef.

They go from Unlimited to 150.

How about 400 or 500.

I am a Master Merchant on top of Master WS and Master Artisan (and novice Politician). I do not abuse my vendor by storing my resources, thats what my droids and factories and 5 storage houses are for.

I like to keep 25 of every weapon and item I make in stock.

I have a Ranged weapons vendor, Melee Weeapons Vendor, Power Up Vendor, Misc Item Vendor (WUKs, Grind Knives, Vehicles, etc), a special order and krayt weapon vendor in my lab, and a vendor on another planet with a little bit of everything.

So I am already taking advantage of my 6 vendors all of which have over 150 items (minus my special order pick up vendor)

This "fix" is horrible and I hope they rethink and raise the cap to above 300.

I like the point saying that limiting us to 150 is going to improve sales as ppl can then use the vendor instead of missing out when they have to "dive down" now they are going to miss out because there is nothing to dive down into and the weapons aren't there at all because we have sold out!

The monopoly one is a pure and utter farce! Who can name one single monopoly that exists! sure there are the best on each server for various Prof's but they have a lion share becuase they are good at what they do and they have been around for a long time usually!

Like tuckiee said the only valid point was the technical one and this quite frankly scares the **edit**e out of me something cronic because if it means the DB is having a hernia you know we are screwed no matter what because a stable game is better than a playable one apparantly (I know its a catch22)!

I do like the suggestion that TH saw tho for increasing the limit with merchant skill as that will mean that skill points jsut have to be spent on that line etc

yup breaking up the monopoplies is code words for pissing of the old line smiths that have a reputation and high volume sales to get them to quit so that a bunch of new (15$ per head) smiths who just power grinded there way to bliss can jump in and starttaking up the slack...good plan

Doesn't mean much. I put down 5 weapon vendors when i had the merchant skill to do it, then I dropped that line and put them in planetary advertising.

So if you drop the "additional vendor" skill you can KEEP the additional vendor?? So can have a vendor limit or 2 but run 6 vendors?

If that is the way it is now don't get too comfortable they will take your additional vendors away soon enough. But at least that may be a temporary work-around if the kill vendors like this.

It's not multiclassing by placing a vendor and then dropping the points to train in somethign else.

The moment you drop the business line in artisan you are essentially saying "I dont want to be a business person anymore" and you should lose all vendor privs."

I was a Master Weaponsmith Master Pistoleer, Artisan with business three before I realized I should become a merchant because I want more vendors. I sacrificed 100% of my fighting skills and I am now Master Artisan, Master WS, Master Merchant and Novice Politician. I am still Multi class.

Please don't justify a bug for allowing you to multiclass. What it means to multiclass is to sacrifice skill points so you can do a little of more than one thing. Multiclassing is not having the ability of using somethign you normally couldnt use if you didnt have the skill.

Looks like I am still able to Multi class pretty easily.

This is the worst yet, another one of those completely thoughtless changes. If they are going to do this they should make it so you get more vendors and more items as you go up in the merchant class. Perhaps take out one of the useless lines of merchant and make it 100-200-400-800 max on each vendor when you progress through it. If they move to 150 max for every vendor it would just simply take all the fun out of it. I go through 100's of weapons a day sometimes on each vendor. This is just plain silly.

What about people who want to take classes that involve more than sitting around crafting all day? Armorsmiths and tailors in particular would be forced to take up merchant just to be able to put a reasonable selection of items on their vendors and thus are denied the ability to be worth a **edit** in combat because they don't have enough skillpoints to get useful skills.
