You will need 20 total, 17 if you buy a weaponsmiths toolkit from a tailor. THey drop from anything that drops AA's or CA'. There is no one real good way to get these other than checking the trade forums daily and spending a TON of money. To buy 5-6 CA's or AA's of +3 or better will cost you well over 20 mil. Keep in mind being a 20 pt. smith will not allow you to increase speed/damage as those two cap at the ten you have. The extra two points will go into ham, durability or range.

Being as I was a major tape supplier to my player city at one time I can chime in on this. The best place to get these is from a higher dungeon which tends to drop skill modded clothes, and killing storm troopers. My favorite place for this is fort tusken. One its always camped so with some buffs and a good armor even a lowlevel player can join in the camping. It may take you a couple weeks, but even if you do not get the skill modded item you want you can sell it on the trade forum and get the cred to buy the tapes there. Otherwise its really a waste of money.

If you want low condition high ham cost weapons, yes it won't matter. I think I benifit from the higher condition than anything, but it depends on the weapon and the spawns of resources on each server vary.

So the best way to come up with the best stats is with the rescources not the skill tapes? the tapes are not really worth the trouble or the money right?

Yes, for damage and speed stats. Like i said the extra two points can go into HAM, range mods and durability. From what I understand the range mods are a big deal if you pvp and 100-200 points of durability is nice no matter who you are.

Here is the benifit to being a 12-pt smith: People automatically assume taht what you make is substantially better than eveyone elses stuff. It is largely a gimmic, since many people only care about damage and to a lesser degree speed.

Myadvice stockpile a nasty storehouse of great resources and then worry about the 12-pt. suit, cause if your resrouces aren't top of the line having 50 pts won't help if you cant max the damage/speed line on every weapon you make. People really will quibble over5-10 points.

Resources > 12 point

12 points is not worth it for making regular weapons, but they are precious if you want to make alot of enhanced stuff.

Go to SWGcraft.com it is a great resource for any crafter. Look under the schematics tab and you can get the resource reqs and stats used for every schem in the WS treen, any other for that matter.

12 pt is nice if you are established and have cash to burn. Resources, as stated before, are much more useful in making quality weapons then 2 extra experiment points. With the Cb comming up the profession of WS is probibly going to change with combat so maybe 12 pt will be worth it but as of right now it is probibly not.
