Hello,
My alt toon is working on weaponsmith and I managed to loot 9 identical +165 max dmg rancor teeth. I was wondering what kind of weapons can be made with these teeth. I have heard people say they are not worth much because of the speed and HAM increases associated with them, does this reasoning apply to looted teeth like these, or the base rancor teeth (5-50 I believe). If I remember right these had +0.67 to speed and the HAM stats were increased by between 7 and 10.
Would it be better to experiment the weapons for HAM cost or damage?
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

They replace Sword Cores.
1 or 2 hand swords
2 Hand Cleaver
Rykk Blade
Basically, any non-vibro sword. One or Two handed.

with base crafted adv sword cores at around 42 mx dmg, a 120 increase to that is huge. They have value. Just find out what weapon someone wants better. Some people like the Ryyk, because it looks good. A 120 increase in dmg to a Ryyk, could make it quite useful.

dont make ryyks, they have terrible range mods; make curved swords with them. i made some 390 dmg 2h curved swords awhile back from +88 rancor teeth, so with a good slice, u can prolly hit 500. ill give u 10k per tooth if you want.

Thanks for the great info guys, sorry Greddy, not for sale. I am a master swordsman, so I am curious as to how these curved swords will turn out. It will be a while though as I am in no hurry to get to master WS, it is proving to be a fun journey, although being able to take a break and go do other stuff is great.

you could probably make a 2-hand curved sword that's better than a scythe is. We had someone loot some exceptional teeth on our server and had a curved sword made that was 400+ damage before the slice *ouch*. There is clearly value in some that are that high in damage. Most teeth aren't usefull because most teeth don't have anywhere near that damage mod on them so they aren't usually worth using.

The biggest problem with teeth is their speed. Fencers cap their speed, so it's a non-issue, but a swordsman still has to think about speed. You may want to run some numbers before making 2 handed curved swords with them, with the speed penalty they may not end up much of a DPS bonus over standard sword.
Teeth make great PvE weapons for a fencer though. I had some 165 teeth that I made curved swords with, and ending up selling 5 of them for 1M total.

Thanks for the great info everybody, I can see these will be fun to use and see what I can come up with. Hopefully getting nine of them will allow me to create some good weapons.

9 nice swords that's for sure. Agree with not making Ryyk swords though. Make some nice 1 handed swords...you will be pleasantly surprised.
I'm still looking for some nice teeth as my Jedi. I must have killed over 1 million Rancors thusfar in my grinding....no uber teeth yet. Patience though..I'll find em!

Just an fyi, I have no idea how much these things go for on chilastra, but I payed a tad over 500k for 6 identical +176's on Starsider so with 9 identical they should go for more. And curved sword is definitely the way to go, fencers are always looking for weapons with much higher damage than what they have, but swordsman not so much.

pretty nice teeth you have there, like everyone else has said, whack em in a 1h curved, or 2h curved.
just thinking about theoretical figures, and i think they should be in the 365 max dmg range, for a 2h curved, but its the speed which will hinder you. as all rancor teeth add to speed
the last rancor 2h curved i made on intrepid came out at 315 on the max, with a 3.6 speed i seem to recall - not in game right now so i cant get all the full stats. that was using a 108 max dmg tooth

one problem with curved swords, they have toooo wide of range of damage, like min 38, max 299, meaning mitigation is way off, a scythe lets say will have 290 min and 450 max, giving more consistent hits of higher damage on average.

and with rancor teeth, its made even worse, as the min is usually something ridiculous like 7
