Galaxy-wide Vendor Search is here!

Have you ever wanted to search for an item to buy without having to travel across the entire planet randomly checking vendors? Well now you can! We have enhanced the functionality of our bazaar terminals to include the ability to search all player vendors for items you may be looking for. This new feature will greatly improve how vendors are handled in the game. Read on for more information.

Overview
The purpose of vendor search function is to allow vendor owned items to be searched from anywhere in the galaxy. This will include the following functions:

  • Each vendor owner can decide whether to allow his or her vendors to be searchable in the market. There is an option for vendor owners to turn on/off the search option on his or her vendor. The vendor owner will be able to find current search option settings for each of his or her vendor(s)
  • When a vendor owner turns on the search option, a player should be able to go to any bazaarand list all items owned by this vendor
  • When a vendor owner turns off the search option, the vendor is no longer listed in the galaxy-wide network search. With this search option turned off, vendor owners have the ability to conduct private auctions. Players will need to physically go to the vendor and click "Use Vendor" to list items from this vendor.

Vendor Status
For all the existing vendors, the default option is set to no. Players have to go to their vendors and enable this search option. For all future vendors, this option is set to yes by default. For vendor owners to check if the search option is on or off do the following:

  • Select the Vendor you wish to turn search on/off for
  • From the radial menu choose "Vendor Control"
  • Once you have selected "Vendor Control" then choose "Status"
  • A pop-up window will show if the search option is on or off

There is a thread running in merchant forum on this, if you have any comments or concerns

In all honesty it will probably help out the pricing of weapons on servers as real competition sets in.

The biggest problem I can see is nice malls and shops with decoration will be over looked a little unless they have really stuff to buy.

Yes, prices will drop, probably drastically at first by many wanting to estabish themselves as the "best deal". In the short term I think for newer smiths they will have a hard time making much $ unless they can compete with the big name smiths which can afford to slash prices and still make a profit.

as a new ws i see this a very possiability of making a large profit. i just made 12pt WS the other day, but as i states in a previous thread i havn't sold a single weapon in weeks, mostly due to the fact that my vendors are in semi-remote locations i guess. being able to get weapons sold via the bazzar would make it so i could generate a livable profit, at least enough to support my jedi, WS, and combat char

That's a very good benefit of this system. You can have your vendor wherever you want it and you will still be guaranteed sales if your stuff is good enough. And I'm real glad that they removed the delivery system. Now I can keep all of my shops open instead of consolidating them all on one vendor in my workshop, not to mention open other shops wherever I want. I was amped to see them rework it and am glad that they got it back to the forefront as quick as they did. I hope this goes live real soon. =)

Well yeah, if you're going to put it out in BFE. lol

Mostly though I'd think of doing that as an additional outlet. Although people can be quite particular. If you've got the best, some will travel quite a distance. I would. But that's just me, I'm weird. =)

so i take it they are removing the 6k item limit? would be pointless if they didnt... also if they do remove the limit is it for vendors only or for the accuall zaar system itself?

So I may not have to spend an entire evening running around Naboo looking for particular resources, just find a bazaar and sit there checking out the resources instead - I see that as a bonus, a couple of hours saved for 'proper' game-playing...

To all those non -crafters (and crafters looking for resources) NOTHING has been changed to the search categories, so.....

  1. You are searching for a Power Hammer;

  2. You have 1.000 pages of PH on Live, so good luck in your search for the best weapon;

  3. You have to examine the Weapon for it's stats and Price, so good luck remembering the 50.000 stats and prices;

  4. You will have to see a Doctor after you are done with your first weapon

Conclusion, as I read on TC forums this won't be very usefull (on TC there are only 6 WS, so the amount of weapons isn't that big yet (already 10 pages). On Live there are around 200-400 WS, so good luck )

Hehe just add a few hours, since you will get a list of ALL the resources in that Category. Or in better words 500 pages of resources
