We get a lot of repeat questions from people wanting to get weapons costume made, thus I have made this small guide for you guys

So you have decided to set out on the quest to get yourself a costume made weapon crafted. This is a guide to doing just that, with tips to what you should take into account and good information on the approach.

Deciding upon the weapon

First of all you need to know what kind of weapon you want done. Here you need to think about your template and what you want weapons you can use.

Here is a list of weapons and their required CL and professions

Atm there is only 2 damage types Energy and Kinetic. Some armours are less resistant to on over the other and Kinetic weapons can shoot straight through PSG's so if you plan on using your weapon in PVP damage type still holds some importance.

Enhancing the Weapon

So you have decided upon your weapon, but you want a better weapon than just standard crafted. This is where Weapon Enhancers comes into play. Weapon Enhancers are looted components that the WS can use to make weapons better. (Best known is perhaps the Krayt Tissues)

Here is a list over all the Enhancers ingame and how many each weapon take to enhance. In this link you will also find the weapons that require looted schemtics. Keep in mind that when placing orders for weapons that require looted schematics the WS will probably espect you to bring that along with the Enhancers.

Post CU all weapons have caps on all stats that it is not possible to exceed (except with power ups) Here is a list of all the different weapons caps

The Following is a guideline to finding out how much your enhancer will improve upon the weapon (Formore precisenumbers please contact your choosen WS as he wil be able to provide you with more accuracte calculations):

Find an unenhanced weapon and add the damage on your enhancer to the max dam this is what the damage should end out to be (if you want to know how high enhancers you need to cap a certain weapon, just find an unenhanced weapon subtract the max damage from the damage cap of the weapon in question, he number that comes out is the number your enhancer should have.)

Please note that this method of working final stats out only work for enhancers, not for looted components.

SAC or DPS? Where to Focus

When crafting a weapon the WS can improve upon 4 areas (5 if the weapon has elemental damage)

Damage:Experimenting in damage raises the min and max damage along with the wound chance.

Speed: Experimenting in speed lowers the speed

Special Attack Cost (SAC): Experimenting in SAC lowers the SAC

Accuracy: Experimenting in Accuracy Heightens the Accuracy (Experimenting in this line usually only give point of accuracy pr 2 experimentation points used)

Elemental Damage: Experimenting in Elemental Damage Heightens the Elemental Damage. (using points in this line usually only give one/two points of elemental pr experimentation point used)

To max one line the WS will usually need 9 points meaning you have 3 points left to put in another line (NB this is only a guideline number so it might be different depending on enhancers and number of amazing successes).

Approaching the Weaponsmith

Okay so you know what weapon you want, you know what areas you want to focus on and you have assembled the needed enhancers. Now you need to find a WS. For best possible result be sure to get hold of a 12 point smith as they have extra experimentation points to improve upon your weapon.

Most WS prefer orders made by mail, as it is easier to keep track of different orders when you have them written down in a mail. This also makes it easier for the WS to spot your Order, as tells are easily lost in crafting spam.

What The WS charge for assembling your weapon will vary from server to server. A good idea however that I believe most WS agree upon is to pay with enhancers you dont need. So if you have an extra se of amazing enhancers giving that to your WS as payment will probably be sufficient, but to be sure nothing is misunderstood you should allways agree on payment when you place the order.

Most WS taking costume orders are pretty busy and futhermore many weapon require factory time to be made, so dont exspect the weapon done in 5 minutes after placing the order. Even if the WS had the time, factories would make it impossible to fulfill that wish.

When Placing the order remember to include all the above (Enhancers, weapontype, Focus) and the WS can Rename the weapon so also include if you want a special name on the weapon (remember some words are restricted)

Congratulations You now have your brand new Costume made Weapon Ready to beat up the Creatures of the Galaxy

Please dont send the weaponsmith tells as soon as he logs in. I dont enjoy logging in to 4-5 tells from different people(doesnt happen much after taking a break for a few months but it happend for a while and it was always the same people with a new person every once and a while). Try an email(if you know what you are talking about in the email I know I am more inclined to help the person, I sometimes tell people no just cause I am afraid of some big fiasco) first since a lot of weaponsmiths will check there email at some point to see what they sold and whatnot so try an email then after that maybe a tell or two. Make sure that the weaponsmith does custom weapons then find out what they charge, dont say something like Ill pay whatever unless you mean it.

Great post and guide. I only have a slight criticism/point to make regarding the small part above. Figuring out how much an enhancer will affect your finished product isn't always as easy as finding an unenhanced version since the customer isn't going to necessarily know how the weapon was experimented. Although some smiths may disagree with me, if you are truly after that one of a kind weapon, I always recomend my customers talk to me and see what my true "base" weapon stats are.

yeah you are right of course that this has to be taken only as a guidline, I added this part mainly to counter the many questions about which enhancers are needed to cap this and that we get on the board.

Would it work if I added that its only a guideline and that for true numbers contacting the smith, you have chosen to craft your weapon, is the only option?

Yah, adding a "caution contents are hot" message to CYA may work.
