At least before my weaponsmith could take care of me
Yes, they were in fact stupid enough to go live with a game breaking bug like this. Its not just weaponcrafting too, its all crafting professions that use experimentation (so all but about 4). There is absolutely no excuse that is acceptable for allowing a REPORTED bug of this magnitude to go live. Period.
I sincerely hope whoever is in charge of the programming department looses their job over this, along with whateverpoor excuse for a programmer allowed this to go live. Q&A (if they have any Q&A Staff which I highly doubt) should be fired en masse. I know that won't happen, but in any other industry it would without question. This is a game KILLER, breaking the economy entirely while we wait for them to stop sitting on their thumbs.
Oh, as an aside this is combined with the resource stacking problem - which has the interesting side effect of DELETING stacks of resources if you so much as try to move them around. I lost about 60k of top notch stuff tonight just trying to put it away. Now I won't even touch my factories, I just paid them up and hope they fix it. I highly suggest you do not even CLICK on a stack of resources at this time.
But who am I kidding, this is SOE, they will probably leave it like this until *ALL* the crafters have quit the game, then announce it was working as intended and remove experimentation from the game instead of fixing the problem. Or remove crafting and give us an entirely EQ style piece of crap.
I would say they have a day or so to fix this before they start losing subscriptions. I know I seriously considered deleting the program from my HD and telling them to sod off today, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that some poor slob is working his butt off overnight to find the problem so they can fix it. I can consider spending a few days working on my Doctor skills but after that I am just gonna pull the plug and they will lose my revenue for the next year or two. Someone else can take my money - someone who knows how to program a game and how to test one properly. You know, a professional not some gaggle of morons like SOE evidently has.
This game has already been buggy as hell, but this is an unbelievable example of just how****** a job a company can do and expect they can get away with it. The clock is ticking....
I have a message on my vendor barking "Due to the Experimentation Bug that came with this patch, I will no longer be crafting weapons or taking orders" and "I will start crafting weapons again when the bug is fixed, or quit weaponsmith in 2 weeks whichever comes first". I will alsostop subscribing.
Ummmm, resources too???? Putting them away????
Could someone please explain this partto me before I do something tragic??? Please?
They're gonna be mighty surprised to see a drastic drop in revenues if they don't fix this soon. They count their tokens by how many "subscriptions"or "accounts" they have. However, most crafters I know have multiple subscriptions. At least 4 people in my guild alone have 5 accounts. So, they lose 4 people and their accounts drop by 20.
Crafting in SWG was what drew me away from the MMO I'd been playing fora number of years. The crafting in SWG was just so deep and varied, it blew every other MMO away. But...they don't want to blow every MMO away. They want to be the SAME as every MMO. They want combat and loot drops and NPC vendors and that's that.
Even more disturbing to me, however, is the implied notion that the ONLY thing an MMO, or any other kind of computer game for that matter, canprovide is violent combat. Entertainer, Medical and Crafting all getting phased out in favor of Jedi vs. Bounty Hunter. You read the Bounty Hunter Wars? These are not nice people. These are the moral degenerates of the Galaxy. Yeah, lemme be one of those. And Jedi? Well, there seem to be a lot more Imperial Jedi out there than Rebel ones. I mean, if all you're gonna do is combat, might was well be Imperial. Our server has so many Imperial cities now that it's difficult to leave town. Can't even go into Coronet anymore since last week. Yikes! So, Emperor Palpatine wins and the Galaxy is now a slave of the Dark Side. Great. Yeah, this is just what Star Wars is all about.
SOE...I have serious questions about not only your abilities to code a game, but the morality of the choices you've made in the entertainment you provide. Bread and Circuses. Yay!
Funniest darn thing happened on test center, this was a known bug that was posted about repeatedly. The DEV's had time to fix it, or not go live with it. Guess what? This is star wars galaxies, where the subscriber doesn't matter (cuz we keep logging in) and the DEV doesn't care (cuz we keep paying him). Should I mention the CSR's? The ones that have given new meaning to Customer Service Representative.
