hi , i have been playing on test centre ( primaraly with carbines ) and it seems that action cost is absolutely crucial . since weapons have a damage range that is very easily capped ( when using low to medium level loot ) , is it possible to use experimentation points to bring the action cost down ( if so by how much ? ) .
if action cost can indeed be experimented on i think post cu most weaponsmiths will have pretty much the same damage / speed on their weapons but the high level smiths will differentiate their product with low action costs .

ive been hoping to hear similar storys like this , basicly since we can practically cap most weapon dps with enhancements and/or a slice , the only other thing to strive for is a low special attack cost , i think once the CU settles in and most proffesions and weaponsmiths get an idea of exactly how relivent the special attack cost will be in combat , you will then start to notice that the top of the line weapons will defo have special attack cost as there main selling point , thats if the system remains the same when pushed to live ,
still wish the would remove the stats cap tho

I crafted a blaster fist on TC today (with horrible resources) and the action cost began at 127. Every point I put into it lowered the cost by 7. This might differ between weapons and might be effected by different things... but yes, we can lower the costs.

thanks for the replies and hearing that action cost can be experimented on is good news . on test centre the damage per second of a weapon means next to nothing if after 10 seconds our action pool is empty . i can see myself buying weapons based on damage per action cost ( action cost being the limiting factor rather then speed ) .

The next question is: Did they put a cap on this too?
I'd be interested in hearing some testing on this. Is it possible to put all 12pts into lowering this cost? If so, how low can we take SAC?

Sweet ...if the action can be experimented way down then enhancements will be usefull again(just odd that a max dmg enhancment will be defacto low action enhanment)

are low HAM weapons converting to low Action Cost weapons when they are converted on the test servers? and yes it seems that enhancments will be used so that people can experiment on action cost, this is actually a good idea, still wouldn't mind caps loosened a little though

In TC for testing I was using a lower DPS weapon that had way less action cost that kept me up and still did good enough damage.

When TC Bloodfin went live, I noticed that stocks I had already made came out of the crate with -20 special cost. The best I could get with the same materials was -10. So based on how the conversion goes, you guys may want to make a bunch of stocks now. This was across the board too, all my specialty stocks were the same, regardless of their pre-CU stats.
Even if you dont want to "waste" your top notch wood, I would definately use any old corellian wood that you have and make a bunch right now, just to be prepared. Also, I noticed that components which are being given + special costs, like power handlers and feed mechs, do not have any after the conversion, if they were made prior. So once again, you may want to make some now and sit on them, just in case.

Stocks that I made pre-cu and were converted I was unable to add to the crafting window, it said the item was of the wrong type. they were 40/40 dmg stocks and now stocks have no damage. Has anyone tested this on a converted server?

I had a few low ham weapons that I checked when our server was live and they had the EXACT same action costs as any of the other similar weapons. However there were other updates released prior to the live launch so hopefully they may have adjusted that.

BUT remember that ALL CONVERTED weapons have their weapons base Special cost, no matter what the stats of HAM cost are in LIVE
Just like for ALL weapons that are converted the Range mod will be ZERO (0)
