Okay.. as we all know our sabers degen into nothing the minute we pull it out etc etc..

my current 5th gen saber is quickly going down.. now at 403/1000 and frankly I have no desire to lose it because I CANNOT afford to replace it

I have seen people talking about how to repair a saber.. can we do this? like if I pick up a weapon repair kit from a friend.. even though I am not an artisan can I repair it? if so.. whats the failure rate?

So if someone could provide me with some insight it would be much appreciated thanks

Peace All

Be sure to get a high quality repair kit (as close to +15 as you can get if I recall).

Quality effects success rate for repairs.

Anyone can use them. Artisans make them.

Failure rate is very high for weapons.

I'dguess it's a 50-50 chance since we don't have any weaponsmith training.

Grab the highest quality weapons repair tool you can. You have the same chance as repairing it as anyone else (weaponsmiths, contrary to popular belief do NOT have any extra repair mods). Repair and weapons repair SEA mods may help, can't hurt anyway. Failure rate on repairs is dependent on condition, try to repair at LEAST before it gets down to 250-300 condition. Failure rate at this level is about 10% (although from what I've heard some people have terrible luck and fail all the time, though they could be using crappy tools which does make a huge difference.)

"weaponsmiths, contrary to popular belief do NOT have any extra repair mods"

That "popular belief" came from the devs announcement in publish_3 back (October) where the devs stated that the crafters of certain item types would have a greater success rate at repairing those item types.

Does it matter? Dunno.

Were we told it mattered by the game's developers? Yep.

Is there a crack problem in Austin, TX? Obviously.

I got a question. If you fail repair on lets say, a 4th generation saber then upgrade it to a 5th generation saber, is the stats normal?

Whats the best way to use sabers? Use a pearl, wait till condition is low then make the next generation till you get to 5th then try to repair?

According to the patch notes for publish 3:

"Skilled crafters gain bonuses for the repair of items within their field."

It doesn't say they get skill mods, it says bonuses.

Is there any place you can point to where the devs have said the they changed this?

Because if they haven't changed it, then it's still in there.

(Which doesn't mean jack to a jedi BTW, since he can't give it to a weaponsmith to repair anyway.)

Just a little hint:

Stay up 'till the wee hours of the morning, right before server shut-down. Attempt to repair your saber. Have a massive failure? Just don't log out. The server will roll back a few hours, before you did the repair. The following day, try again. If it works, then log out.

Is this an exploit? Probably. Are you desperate enough to try to save your saber? Probably. Will the devs have any proof that you've done this? Probably not.

Bull.

The server doesn't roll back a few hours if you don't log out. Just as the server is going down it gives you a system message saying that you are being logged out. It logs you out and wherever you were when it did is where you are when you come back.

Rollbacks happen usually after a server crashes, not after a normal shutdown.

At this time you do not lose anything. It will probably be fixed someday, but for now they are as good as new.

Does anyone have a faq on repairing items in JTL?

Which is better repair kits or space stations and why?

If I repair an item IE: Armor that has 749/750 and I repair it will it drop the 750 to another number like 650?
