Well it certainly isn't WoW. Mining is just looting with a pick axe. Crafting is like casting a spell with required stuff and then waiting for the item to pop out. The item at lower levels is usually useless... though I think I have spotted two or three that will sell.

I believe EVE still exists. Of course it will take you literally years to catch up to everyone else.

meh...I have a buddy who is one of the top dogs. He says the crafting is interesting, but only after you train the skill which is time based and not grind based.

i know i know. okay I may know can't be positive yet 80% sure. either way if it's 1/4 as good as it sounds it'll be 1000x better than the NGE.

While I can't answer your question directly, you should check out mmorpg.com. They have a comprehensive list of current and future MMORPGs, with tons of info on each.

I've been in EVE for a little over a month now. It is kind of a HUGE, deep EnB, if you remember that early space MMO. I'm enjoying it, but for the first time I haven't started as a crafter. Mining isn't automated, though. That was unique to SWG, I believe.
I've heard (though not tried) that about the only other crafter game now is DAoC. UO has crafting and mining, but it's pretty rudimentary once you've experienced the old days of SWG. WoW doesn't, GW doesn't, CoH/V doesn't, DDO won't, ST won't. AA will, but NDA means I can't tell you about it or they'll have to kill me.
C'mon, folks, that's one of the things this is all about. Lucas/SOE has conclusive evidence that crafting has no place in MMOs.

Ok then Xix13 what is "AA"? An MMOG I hope?
Like every former SWG crafter should be doing, I'm looking for a new game with both combat and an intricate crafting/player economycomponent, like SWG oncehad.
