Have you set up one of your mouse to buttons to "double-click" when pressed once? That will cut your clicking in half.

I've found that by making a macro that uses the entire top rung (ie: toolBarSlot 01 though 12) and crafting all metal staffs on practice, i can reel in a sizable amount per minute. Basically, just grind an entire pass, and then /dump alt + tab to your desktop and chat on msn for 2 or 3 minutes, mostly replying to people or something, and then get back into the game and make 2 passes this time. repeat this processand before you know it, you'l be reeling in experience.
i like the metal staff because it gives 88 experience on practice mode and only requires one material; i've just stockpiled a local grind quality steel and bought some off of young and enterprising artisans for 1 cpu (im krupintupple on TC) so its not too expensive. and a double click enabled mouse would make this really fast, and you could knock down the macro downtime to something small, like 4. 88 per unit and using roughly 10 crafters is 880 experience in a little over a minute. so lets say this adds up to 880 x 50 minutes is about 44000 experience, give or take. now, given, my way of taking micro breaks is going to knock that down by about half or so, but its going to enable you to casually work at it, over the course of a few hours, whereas a solid hour of clicking through a macro would make you get a permanent case of eye strain and a wonky brain.
it isn't going to totally solve the boredom, but it at least makes it more humanlytolerable.
another good way to generate some XP would be the weapon attachmentattachments, but i don't know if they are considered artisan or not, or getting 0101 and experimenting on scout blasters and DLT20's. basically hand them off to newbs, and basicaly, they'll rake in UXP for you. Repair kits, above 50% do this as well. every little bit helps.

What's the rush?
I didn't grind WS, per se, at all.
I mean, get to know your weaponry, put newbie weapons on the newbie bazaars (ie Dearic/Nashal/Bestine/etc), and listen for newbies looking for new guns.
I had a pile of steel I ground through whenever I was waiting on a shuttle, but all in all, I got through WS fast enough (couple months). And I learned a lot on the way.
I mean, I've spotted some "master" weaponsmiths, who I trained every second day or so. And their stuff is junk. The stuff they put on the bazaar is junk, and the stuff they have on their vendor is (moderately better) junk.
They ask me for resources, and I sell them some of my resources (I trade in resources anyway) on the basis that I might as well make *some* money off them. But it's going to take a couple months for them to figure out the profession. Months they could have spent *while* gaining skillboxes.....

Does UXP still apply? I was an architect (now novice weaponsmith) when I heard about this and assumed it was taken out of the game before I started playing (never noticed anything in architect) so if people use your weapons do you get bonus xp? If so how much?

I'm not sure exactly how much.
But it's nice to watch your Weaponsmithing xp tick up while driving a speeder.
Gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling.

FORGET ABOUT RIFLE BARRELS!
I make heavy warheads! These things give you like 800 xp each!
Sure they take up more resources, but hey... they save your time and wrorries.

I couldn't agree more, I wish more people would take their time and actually learn the field as they attempt to master it. They do nothing but grind skills, then complain that its too much boring clicking...heh, I'm always being asked by newbs if I could make them a 'crappy' gun for cheap, i tell them to check the bazaar...of course there's rarely anything there.
Nothing like sending a newb off to do missions with a cdef, explaining that the dl44 costs 5k....MUWAHAHA

On Starsider, the Coronet Bazaar is pretty well stocked.
With crap.
Two-handed weapons is pretty neglected though, so I tend to drop 5-10 63-247 2-handed Curved swords on there every couple of days, for 5k a pop.
Strangely enough, they get picked up pretty fast.

What about those of us that already mastered it 2 times and are coming back for another fix?
I miss those freaky tells from strange female avatars in the middle of the night that are all "If you make me a laser carbine with these krayt tissues I got I'll /snog you the whole time you make it..." I need to get married too so I can whistle innocently with my wife as I negotiate for the mysterious twileek to throw in a couple /fiddles with the snogs....makes it even more exciting...
